The red stone town of Blairgowrie is situated on the banks of the River Ericht, where it emerges from spectacular gorges in Strathmore. With good shops and great restaurants, it makes an excellent base for exploring Perthshire and the beautiful Angus Glens. Surrounded by rolling fields - famed for their raspberries - the town is overlooked by hills and mountains, and is home to Scotland's largest skiing centre at Glenshee. It's the perfect terrain for riding, cycling and walking, whilst golfers are well-catered for with several excellent courses (including Rosemount) locally and St Andrews and Gleneagles also within easy reach. Marvel at the world's tallest hedge at Meikleour (600m long and 30m high), see Meigle's collection of Pictish sculpted stones, or listen to stirring tales at Glamis Castle, the setting for 'Macbeth' and said to be Scotland's most haunted castle! The small town of Dunkeld is also worth a visit with its historic cathedral, riverside walks, Big Trees, such as the Birnam Oak and parent Larches of Dunkeld, and the Hermitage, which offers impressive waterfalls.

A detached, 19th century, stone-built coach house, situated within the owners’ grounds on the outskirts of the attractive town of Blairgowrie. The Coach House has been lovingly renovated and retains features including exposed beams, quarry tiles, and a lovely oak floor in the sitting room and bedrooms, providing excellent accommodation, finished and equipped to a very high standard. Guests have sole use of a pretty courtyard garden as well as enjoying shared use of the owners’ garden. A short walk takes you to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Blairgowrie, or for a stroll along the river bank to watch the salmon leaping. Visit nearby Scone Palace, crowning place of 42 Scottish Kings, or enjoy the wonderful walking, cycling and golf the area has on offer.

There was secure off road parking and a friendly welcome on arrival from an unobtrusive host. There was a good selection of in house entertainment and local shops almost on your door step. It was quiet but a central location for exploring Perthshire and no midgies.

Very nice area of Scotland with places of interest within easy travelling distance. We also liked the owner's tradition of sharing a wee dram of very nice malt on arrival!
