The famous 11th century tower that now forms part of the cathedral is one of only two surviving in Scotland and forms part of the dramatic history on display here. Brechin Castle, whose origins date back to the 13th century boasts a visitor centre where you can discover the history of Scotland’s ancient Pictish tribes who inhabited Scotland 2000 years ago. The cottage was extremely comfortable and we were made most welcome. We would highly recommend the cottage and we would definitely return. Fantastic bar meals at Nicolls on Ward Road in Dundee, not too far to travel, and well worth the visit for good quality home cooking.
