The lively coastal town of Dunbar, on the south east coast of Scotland, is ideally situated for touring and exploring the area. Boasting lovely sandy beaches, pubs, restaurants, museums and leisure facilities, there is something to satisfy all tastes. The area of East Lothian offers many attractions for visitors including the Seabird Centre at North Berwick Harbour, Tantallon Castle, the Museum of Flight, where you can walk under the wings of Scotland's Concorde, and 19 golf courses, including The Open Championship course at Muirfield. Diving off St Abbs is world famous, and beaches at Cove and Coldingham offer unsurpassed beauty. Nearby Cockburnspath lies on the eastern extremity of the Southern Upland Way, a long distance footpath from the west to east coast of Scotland, and is ideally situated to offer great walking. A short drive or train journey north will take you to Edinburgh, while Berwick-upon-Tweed and Lindisfarne are a short drive south. A great location with plenty to see and do!

Dunbar 6 miles. A traditional, terraced cottage in Birnieknowes, a small rural hamlet 6 miles from Dunbar in southern Scotland. Set in an “L” shaped terrace, the cottage retains much of its traditional character, and offers cosy, comfortable accommodation, with views of the open sea. Relax in the enclosed garden and enjoy a glass of wine after a day exploring the surrounding areas. With the excellent walking of the Southern Upland Way on the doorstep, historic houses and churches, and the beaches of East Lothian, Cove and Coldingham to enjoy, this traditional Scotland cottage offers an excellent base from which to explore Dunbar and all the surrounding areas.

The cottage was cosy and warm. I was pleased that there were no 'hidden costs' such as charging extra for electricity as I have found in other places. Quiet location for restful holiday but easy to tour surrounding area without lots of time wasted travelling. Loved the East Lothian coast - lots of interest to see. Good restaurants around and the garden centre in East Linton was delightful.
