The days out in this region can be so varied, with a short drive or train ride to the Welsh capital city of Cardiff for the shopaholics, sport enthusiasts or theatre buffs, walks and cycle rides from the doorstep or a trip to the seaside resort of Porthcawl with its promenade and funfair.
