Location: Cwmgors

Ammanford 6 miles; Neath 15 miles.

The old mining village of Cwmgors, nestling at the base of the wonderful Black Mountain, offers visitors a shop, pub and an award-winning fish and chip shop. There is superb walking from the doorstep, both in the Black Mountain and, further north, in the Amman Valley, with their vast moorlands, prehistoric burial sites and medieval castles, and acting as the gateway to the Brecon Beacons. The bustling market town of Ammanford is 6 miles away, and boasts a variety of shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, while the larger town of Neath is just a short drive away. For racing lovers, one of only two purpose built, all-weather trotting race tracks is close by at Tairgwaith, and holds regular race meetings from March to September. To the south is the magnificent Welsh coastline, with fabulous sandy beaches along The Mumbles, the National Wetland Centre of Wales and Pembrey Country Park. A central base for discovering all this part of Wales has to offer.
