  • "Compact holiday accommodation in a lovely rural setting."

Car parking about 5 metres from the front door. Hard floors throughout and wide doors makes the accommodation suitable for people with mobility issues with just a low entrance step to overcome. Spacious en-suite bathroom with shower. Accommodation very clean. Laundry available to use once during your stay. Farm shop about a mile and a half away or a very good supermarket in Raglan. Plenty of footpaths to explore although many not accessible due to lack of maintenance or crops obstructing the route. The local pub in Llandenny was temporarily closed.

Owners could not have been more helpful and accommodating (which included me being delayed until 11 pm on the day I arrived). The cottage itself is very comfortable and located in peaceful surroundings. Perfectly located for walks along the Wye and Usk Valleys, the southern reaches of the Brecon Beacons and not too far from the coast. Looking forward to a return next year

  • "The Pheasant One was perfectly located for us to explore the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley, and Brecon Beacons - all of which were well within 45 minute's drive of the cottage."

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and have gone well above and beyond to make the cottage modern, inviting, and spotlessly clean. The property itself was very cosy and warm - particularly nice after a day out this time of year! The cottage was well equipped which gave us plenty of opportunity to cook and spend time in during the evenings. Our only recommendations would be to include a few more sharp knives for food preparation, and a HDMI cable might be good for the TV for anyone who want to stream via a computer. Ultimately, we would thoroughly recommend The Pheasant One for any couples wanting to stay in the area.

We were able to tour about and can recommend Raglan Castle, St Fagans Museum of Welsh Life, Llanthony Priory and then carry on along the single track road across Brecon Beacons to Hay on Wye. Road single track but views definitely worth it. Big Pit really fascinating place to visit too and Usk is always lovely. Great eating places we found were the Olway in Usk, best hot chicken curry ever tasted, The Castle in Usk and the King's Head in Usk. Great holiday.

The cottage is lovely, it’s exceptionally clean and well equipped for a self catering holiday. The owners are lovely and friendly too, we chatted to them and they recommended places to visit, routes to take and good local places to eat. Since last year the cottage had been upgraded with some redecoration and an extra window added which made it even better. The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring so many different places including South Wales coast, beaches, cities, the Brecon Beacons, Gower as well as much of South West England including the Cotswolds, the coast and lots of pretty villages and stunning scenery. All together a wonderful place to stay. We will definitely visit again.

  • "This is a great holiday home and the owners were just lovely."

The bathroom was perfect for anyone with disabilities. It was modern and clean. I know Sykes advised the owners to be minimal on how much furniture to put in but I felt that was not such good advice. It needed a bit more "comfort n cosey" adding to the living room. But for a holiday home this accommodation really has great potential and the owners are new to it and have done an excellent job. We had a great week and no complaints, the bit about the comfort was just our opinion n in no way spoilt our time. Good luck to them as they've worked hard to make a great business.

A peaceful place to relax and unwind, yet a great village with pub, post office, shop etc only a short 2 mile drive away. The cottage is bijou and pretty, with every essential provided, everything was lovely and tastefully selected, no cheap tat here, the finishings were high end. The hosts are warm and welcoming, really friendly and helpful and on hand should you need anything, they are however, unobtrusive and respecting of your privacy too. I highly recommend this little slice of heaven, and will certainly return.

  • "This is an excellent property, new to the holiday let market since June 2018."

The property is very well finished throughout with an excellent kitchen area and a superb walk-in shower in the bathroom. Its location is excellent for walking or cycling with the Brecon Beacons just 12 miles away, and excellent selection of restaurants, pubs and hotels nearby in Raglan and Usk. The owner is passionate about providing a top quality service and is keen to learn from guests how the facility can be further improved. The only thing we could think of was providing a cafetiere as we like good coffee. One general observation, broadband service in rural areas can be very intermittent, so if that service is important to you it would be worth checking it is operational before you go.
