  • "Stable cottage was just what we wanted a peaceful little retreat to relax and unwind."

Log burner and hot tub was a super addition. Paul the owner was on hand if needed. Paul even lit the log burner so it was warm inside the cottage for our arrival. Gave some handy tips with directions which helped us to find the location. Stunning views from the dining table when eating breakfast. Will definitely visit again

  • "We loved our stay at Stable Cottage."

Such a lovely conversion, comfortable and homely throughout. We arrived in snow, unusual for the area. This made access to the farm where the cottage is very challenging to say the least. However, the care and concern shown by Paul was excellent. He checked in on us when we'd arrived to make sure we had supplies, even providing us with milk as we had none. The hot tub was excellent and preheated on our request. The fire was set, ready for us to light. The owners had kindly changed the welcome bottle of fizz to a non alcoholic one on our request. An enduring memory will be enjoying the hot tub while it snowed on us! And also curling up by the fire with a good book. Great retreat and we'd definitely book again.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed, much appreciated Property Owner

Excellent shower and lovely bathroom. The use of a hot tub if required. A store room with machine , bins , drying for wet gear. Best of all a paddock to use for our dogs to run free. Beautiful surroundings and lots to do near by .Friendly hosts that are on hand if you require assistance . A welcome of fizz and chocolates on arrival . A log burner that would be lit for your arrival( not needed with Indian summer temps). A nice gem of a cottage .

  • "The single track to property would not be suitable for all vehicles, nor the parking space."

Beds very uncomfortable. Not very clean, especially oven. Glasses or cupboards not cleaned regularly.

Thank you for your feedback, although a bit surprising. The whole point of stating that we are around to assist and advise with your stay and deal with any issues if need be, is to do just that, not when departed. Beds dont seem to suit everyone, we had noticed that they all had been slept in. The double bed mattress is only five months old and turned weekly. The parking space is a bit tight for large vehicles but there are options for these, yours was a small family car which fitted tidy, but if you would have asked you could have parked in the yard. The property is cleaned in the same way every week, this includes all cupboards and oven etc. Dissappointing that certain issues that you were not happy about were not brought to our attention whilst you were here, which could have resulted in you having a happier stay The miserable weather might also have been a contributory factor to your feedback. Also your text messages implied that all was okay, i.e. enjoying coming back to your cosy cottage etc. Property Owner

  • "The property was not clean and had a strong smell of mould especially in the bathroom where there was evidence on large areas of mould in the shower and in the grout around the floor tiles the 2 mats in this area were soaking wet and also smell In the kitchen area the taps rotated in the sink(loose) and the cold water tap needed repair or to be replaced as it as exstreamly difficult to turn on and off there was no control of the water pressure coming out."

The sink was heavily stained and required throughly cleaning .Several of the kitchen chairs were dirty with food stains having not been wiped. The leather suite was well worn and the Rt hand recliner mechanism handle was missing so the back rest could not be used. The wooden floor one this area had not been cleaned and was dirty when a spillage was wiped up it showed how much !!! The fridge/freezer had shelves missing in the door where bottles should go and generally in need of replacement The cooker oven had not been cleaned fully a long time and needed a deep clean. The bedrooms were ok except the double bed mattress was well passed it’s useful life with the springs making it uncomfortable to lie on this bedroom only had hooks 4 hooks to hang clothes on no wardrobe in this bedroom. We washed all the towels provided as they did not smell or feel fresh. The outside yard was quite nice but the hot tube lid was torn and difficult to open and close pool Our overall experience of this holiday was not positive as not only was the cottage very disappointing but the out side area was very similar to a junk yard and was far to expensive and overpriced WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED

Whilst we welcome feedback and constructive criticism, we dont like dishonesty. The day you arrived I messaged you in the evening ," to ask if everything was okay for you", I had a reply on Sunday morning to say "all good, thankyou "I replied to say" I was on the end of the phone if you needed anything" On Friday evening before you left on the Saturday, I messaged to say "Hope you have enjoyed your stay with us at Stable Cottage" to which you replied "we have had a lovely week thank you well rested all of us" Your comments in the Visitors Book read "nice cottage, just a shame weather broke, enjoyed hot tub and the beautiful countryside and coast". Whilst nothing is perfect, there is no logic, that if there were any issues that you were concerned about, that you would have called us down and showed us. Why didnt you?? The bed linen, towels and bathroom mats are professionally washed, ironed and replaced on every changeover along with the cleaning of everything, including the floors. The towels had not been rewashed as I had turned the isolation trip for the washing machine off a few weeks ago during a Electrical test and forgot to put it back on. The tap in the kitchen was not loose prior to you arriving and there has never been any complaints about how the water flows. The right hand recliner lever on the suite was accidently broken a few weeks ago, we are trying to source a replacement, but it is still possible to recline, although we dont advertise that the suite is a recliner anyway. We have not replaced the bottle holding tray on the door of the fridge as we have replaced two in there and both have ended up being cracked, there is plenty of room to lay bottles down in the fridge if required. The mattress on the double bed is 5months old so should be okay, but as I know myself mattresses vary and dont suit everybody. I agree the Hot tub lid is torn and ideally it needs two people to open it tidily but wouldnt take away the enjoyment of using it. We are in dispute with the supplier as there seemed to be a fault on the stitching, which has caused the issues, but we also have another on order. Apologies if this caused you any problems. Any external areas that are for the use of guests are clean and tidy. We are disappointed that we were not called down to address any issues that you were not happy about, which would have been the obvious thing to do if they were true. Also not even a thankyou for the wine and chocolates. Property Owner

We had some pretty major issues with the boiler (we ended up having no hot water) which, even though it was to no fault of the owners, they tried their hardest to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They provided us with lots of logs for the wood burner at no extra price, and tried their absolute hardest to fix the boiler, but to no avail. In the end they gave us our money back and we left a day early, however we would absolutely go back again. The photos definitely do not do the cottage justice, especially the bedroom photos! The whole cottage far exceeded expectations, the bedrooms are large and the beds/bedding super comfortable! We slept extremely well ! The log fire is fantastic, and the owners were more than happy to supply wood for our stay (6 nights) the shower room is luxurious and the shower piping hot and powerful. The hot tub is an amazing large additional bonus. The kitchen facilities have everything you need, and we were overwhelmed with a gift of prosecco and chocolates on the dining room table on arrival. The hosts are the best we have ever stayed with, leave you in complete peace but are MORE than on hand for absolutely any questions you may have. Even to the point of, we had car troubles and they offered to take my husband to the shop whilst we were a bit stuck. I class this as going beyond expectations for them going our of their way to help us. There is a large paddock which you can walk you dog in, fully enclosed and safe and the host is more than happy for you to do so. Shop and petrol station 1.3 miles from the cottage, caters for all requirements including a roast dinner! We stay In a lot of places and this is the only place we would rate 10/10 and we would recommend anyone to book here, we couldn't ask for more!! And did not want to leave! • "Our hosts were friendly and welcoming."

The cottage was on a peaceful and beautiful location. There were aspects of the cottage that were not really acceptable for welcoming guests to stay, and we left our hosts with feedback when we left. The kitchen cupboards had a bad smell of dampness, as did the crockery stored inside. Throughout our stay we washed up and stored the bowls and plates we used on the table, rather than put them back inside. We removed the packets of food we had put in another cupboard and also stored them on the table. We went to use the oven on our second night, but opted against using it as it really did not look clean enough. We had already gone out and bought a baking tray, because the range of ovenware, again, did not look that clean. In the end, the oven put us of of using that. Unfortunately, this meant most of our main meals had to be eaten out, during the day. The kitchen surfaces and hob were spotless and we made use of them. The property is accessed by a very long farm track, the condition of which was not ideal. There are many large deep potholes on the track. It is impossible to avoid them on the journey down and it took a couple of days to work out the best way of trying to negotiate them without damaging the car. There were also overgrown, large, raised clumps of grass along the whole of the middle of the track. Luckily we had a SUV and our car front was raised just about high enough to avoid damage. If we were in our normal height car, it would have scraped against this. I had noticed throughout the stay that when the hottub was turned on, you would end up with lots of strange bits of stuff floating in the water. It was only on the last morning, I realised it was coming back out from the filter area. When I lifted the tray/cover I saw the filter looked really filthy. This was obviously where the dirty bits were coming out of. Not having a hottub at home, I am not sure what the correct hygiene protocols are, but this did not look right. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Stable cottage. With a few adjustments, we would have happily given a Five star rating. The owner has since contacted us to say that he has, already, put right some issues mentioned, following the feedback that we left in the visitor book. If all of these points have been addressed, we would happily return again. As I previously said, the cottage, owners and location, are lovely. The furniture could do with updating, and would suggest if replacing the double bed (a previous guest had mentioned it not being comfortable), put in a king-size as most accomodation now tends to have (there is plenty of room for one). This is so near to being a perfect accomodation for a holiday break, and yet, the easily fixed areas of concern only allow an average review. I always try to be honest, constructive, and fair with all reviews that I do.

We appreciate all feedback to ensure that everybody that stays are happy. These customers stayed at the property for two weeks, they were asked on a few occasions if everything was okay and replied it was. If there were issues we would have preferred to be told and therefore could have addressed them. Whilst we told these customers that we were addressing any issues following their feedback in the visitors book, this does not imply that their comments are right, and we clarify below. Oven - The oven is not new, it is used, but was clean, the only section we have cleaned is the inner side of the outer glass, which the cleaners could not access without the oven door being removed, this has now been done. The same applies to the ovenware, not new but used and clean. Smell in cupboards - there was a slight smell in the unit under the sink, a stale smell which we have put down to lack of circulation of air and the various items stored there, as when the doors were open it seemed to dissapear, but no damp there. Lane - The lane is about 300yds long, which is tarmacadam, there are a few small potholes, which are easily avoidable, whilst we wouldnt want any vehicles being damaged, we find that when we fill all holes completely that the lane is used like a motorway, so we prefer that vehicles take it slowly as there are animals around. There are also two small vehicles who use this lane on a daily basis and dont have a problem with spoilers etc as suggested. Hot tub - There are Hot tub instructions and protocols to follow for its use, these were obviously ignored. The hot tub is checked every day, the filter is normally changed on changeover along with the water. During these two weeks I was changing the filter every four days in an attempt to keep it clean, on their departure we emptied and flushed through and refilled, we then had to repeat the process twice again before we eventually got it clean for the incoming guests. Not sure what was causing this horrible mess, but instructions are there for a reason. Bed - All beds are different, some suit some people some dont, the details does not state its a king size bed, if anybody wants the single beds zipped and linked to create a bigger bed we prepare this on their arrival. If there are any issues when someone comes on holiday we would like to be told immediately and therefore we can address them there and then, I wonder why it wasnt done in this instance. There was even a washing machine and bbq in the store at the side by the car port! Fantastic hot tub for relaxing after a day seeing the amazing sites of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire was just the ticket. Then a nice few glasses of wine watching TV or reading in front of the log burner! Massive plus point for us was that Buster our bully could potter around the enclosed courtyard that houses the hot tub whilst we were in it or stay inside and have a nosey through the french doors! Even storm Arwen couldn't put us off, it was magical watching the lightening across the valley in the dark with only the log burner on after a short power cut and Paul bless him like he didn't have enough to do looking after his livestock was straight round asking if we needed candles, logs or anything else! The cottage was lovely and spacious with the wood burner and hot tub being fabulous additions. A few enhancements would make it perfect though - you do need a dishwasher in holiday accommodation as people’s standard of washing up isn’t always hygienic. Some wardrobe/hanging space in bedrooms would be helpful as would a shelf in the shower. As I said, these are enhancements and not meant as criticism as we would definitely stay again.

Hot tub was lovely and the log burner very cosy in the evenings. Kitchen lacked a few basic essentials. Not much room to store food either. Lack of wardrobes in bedrooms was a big issue. 4 coat hangers on hooks was very inadequate for 4 adults for 7 days. Had problems with wet towels no where to hang them. Could do with rail/clothes airer for drying towels and swimsuits after hot tub use as small towel rail in shower room not big enough. Despite a DVD player and collection of dvds there was no remote control to work it and no extension to plug in with tv plugged in and sky box. Parking if you have a big car is tricky. Cottage down a long bumpy track with pot holes.

The hot tub made the children's week! It was excellent and very big. The log burner was lovely for us in the evening and it was so quiet we had the chance to relax. The cottage is lovely. It's down the end of a long lane which is very bumpy and a bit tricky to navigate in a van as has pot holes. The kitchen could do with a few more basic cooking items like a baking tray and wok but we managed to cook at home most evenings (due to covid restrictions). Thank you for the gifts on arrival and quick responses on text and email. Very helpful.

For example, a half decent sharp knife for preparation of food would have been handy. Also we couldn’t find the remote for the DVD player and the WiFi had a habit of dropping out. It is on a working farm. Its beautifully decorated and the wooden beams are fantastic. The bed was comfy. The hot tub a delight. We only used the fire for 2 nights as not really needed as the cottage was so warm. It was lovely to see the lambs in the lambing shed next to the cottage and better waking up to their bleating rather than traffic. The owners who live close by leave you alone but are there if you need them. Single lane up to cottage has lots of pot holes some large so drive very carefully and get to the cottage while still light.

This is a beautiful cottage with amazing owners who took on our last second booking. ( We booked on the day of arrival ) From the simplicity of making the booking to the contact from the owners of the cottage we couldn't of asked for more. The cottage is beautifully finished with just the right amount of furnishings to make you feel at home but leaving enough space to bring your own belongings for your stay. We had contact moments after we booked with Sykes to re-confirm our booking and making sure we had received the email with the address and directions. We confirmed we would be arriving early evening, to our delight the owner (Paul) had the log fire roaring and the hot tub bubbling for us. We were advised of some beautiful dog friendly beaches and places to eat. It was perfect, totally private when we wanted it to be and great customer support and advice when we needed it. We will book again. Dave
