  • "Fantastic place to get away from it all."

Great views and walks around, however the ground was very wet this time and the walk to the coastal path steep, slippery and muddy to the private beach which needs to be added to the description to prevent thoughts of it being easy to reach. I would go back to the cottage to explore the area more too. Beautiful part of the country to see.

If you’re looking for peace and quiet, wonderful views and lovely walks right from the door then you can’t go wrong at Morfa Isaf. The cottage itself is a real hidden gem that is off the scale for cosy comfort. I’ve already booked for next year!

  • "Overall, we were very happy with our stay."

It is a doggie-friendly house, which for dog owners is nice and the host is lovely and the location is outstanding, but I didn't award full marks for everything for one reason. As described, the garden directly outside the house is communal and gets used as such. Children were playing there most evenings. In and of itself, this isn't an issue during the day but, the windows to the rear of the cottage are large and have no blinds or nets, so when you come out of to the bathroom or go to the kitchen in the morning, you have to be fully dressed. Had I known in advance, I'd have brought a dressing gown to walk from the bathroom, back up to the bedroom to get dressed.

Hello Dustie, Many thanks for your thoughts on the Morfa Isaf cottage and your recent stay here. I always appreciate guests' reviews and especially ones that help me to improve the cottages in general. I lived in that cottage for 7 years and at the beginning gave some thought to putting blinds up. I knew I'd never use them. However, I appreciate every guest is different and some may want to take advantage of having blinds . Ironically, we only have children staying once a year and it coincided with your stay. Children or not, a public footpath runs down the side of the garden in question so there is always a chance of seeing people not to mention that garden is shared with the Granary cottage and my own guests in the house so I understand why you may have wanted a dressing gown. It sounds like you wouldn't have been happy with just wearing a towel. I will certainly ask Sykes about their thoughts on the subject. In the 11 years I have rented it to holiday makers, you are only the second person to bring this to my attention. I'm aware that doesn't necessarily reflect the views of everyone who has stayed here so thank you for your honesty. Your comments have been noted as improvements for the future. Property Owner

The cottage was just right for us and the dog…..with a relaxing garden and superb views across the fields to the sea. Being able to walk down to the coastal path where the “secret beach” is (not easy to climb down to) and walk to Llanngrannog with its beautiful beaches (dog friendly) and nice places to eat was great. The views from the coastal path are stunning. If you like to be away from other tourists and crowds then this is the place to be. Mandy was on hand to help if we needed her.

  • "We had a fabulous week at this lovely cottage and the photos don't do it justice as it is much larger inside and out than is shown."

Just like its owner it is a bit " Quirky" and I mean that in the nicest possible way because Mandy, the hostess, is lovely with a great sense of humour. Lots of places to walk and many lovely pubs nearby to eat. We are in our 70,s but still managed to walk the coastal path to Llangrannog, have lunch, and walk back again but it is a bit steep in parts. Dog owners should be aware that the garden is not secure and is shared with other guests and there is a public footpath running through it. This should not be a problem if your dog is good at recall and friendly with other people and dogs.

We've visited 3 times so far. We went in March loved it so much we went back 6 wks later in may. Came home yesterday already missing it. Looking to go again. It's situated where there's lovely beaches not too far away with only a short distance to drive to get to them. Cottage is well equipped. And the lovely king size bed is so comfy we had the best nights sleeps. The garden and fields adjoining was especially loved by our little dacshund dolly. Mandy, the delightful property owner, was there to meet us and show us around when we arrived. The cottage facilities were brilliant, home from home, everything that you need and more! We ate in the Pentre Arms in Llangrannog on two occasions, dog friendly and better to book, the food is amazing! The Londis shop in Brynhoffnant is very good but a little pricey. We went on holiday with our daughter, her partner and their two Beagles who all stayed in the Granary Cottage a few feet from our cottage! They did alot of walking on the fabulous surrounding beaches and coastal paths whereas us retired folks discovered the area in our car. Lots of lovely places to visit. • "I'd like to start by saying we had a brilliant holiday we used the cottage as a base to walk the coastal path."

The cottage is is a beautiful location but on opening the door the first thing we where hit by was a terrible smell of dog. We boiled up some coffee grounds to help get rid of the smell. The quilt was awful very strained. I did take photos. We normally have our sleeping bags with us in the car but I'd taken them out for this trip. If we'd had them I would have used them instead. The sink was very strained and needed a good clean. Again I do have photos. The carpet has seen better days. When we came to use the vacuum cleaner it gave off really strong dog smells. At one point we woke up to find we had no water. The owner lived next door but didn't answer her phone. I know she was poorly but she could have talked to us on the phone. We went with out water for over two hours not very nice when your thirsty. This could be the most amazing place with a bit of updating and cleaning. I would rather have just emailed Sykes with the photos really but couldn't find an email address.

Up until now I haven't responded to any of my reviews on Sykes' own platform. I realise it is much better if I do and so here are my thoughts concerning your particular review.... Please feel free to forward your photos on. I don't dread or hide in fear of bad reviews, I learn from them. I spoke to Sykes who said you can telephone them to ask for the email address for any communications. I agree, the carpet needs renewing now, it certainly is tatty in parts. It was on my to do list and as a popular property, it will have to wait until the end of the season. We try to remove dog smells as much as possible. Clearly we weren't successful for your stay, for that I apologise. I can't imagine how coffee grounds were going to help. The duvet I agree can look "strained" to some. However, it is cleaned regularly. It wasn't white when I bought it, it was beige and over the years has lost colour in parts. I can see that some people may think it's dirty and therefore I will have to buy another one. As far as the sink is concerned, it is a good quality one. It has been soaked in bleach and cleaned endlessly over recent years. That is the colour we now have, clean but "strained" to some. My tenant, Mal explained to you that both my 90 year old mother and I had covid during your stay. Had I been well and up the morning that there was no water on the whole farm, I would obviously have seen we'd had a power cut and corrected it immediately. Instead, Mal woke me up, explained there was "an angry woman outside with no water in her cottage." I later heard, it has to be said, your unfriendly phone message, "it's absolutely disgraceful." I struggle with this attitude I'm afraid. I would ask you to bear in mind we live in a very rural area with our own private water supply. However, it was dealt with immediately and was quickly remedied. Meanwhile, the people in the Granary cottage wondered if there was anything they could do to help. How different we all are. In future I will ensure a large bottle of water is left in both cottages. For the benefit of future people interested in booking a holiday here, I can assure you that I do my best to make my guests as comfortable as possible. For this, I rely on their honesty and openness to tell me during their stay if anything is not right. I'm unable to do anything after the event. Thank you for your positive and in part helpful comments along with everything else you shared. I hope your next holiday cottage meets with your expectation. Property Owner

The cottage itself is cosy and welcoming. We chose this cottage specifically as it is described as having access to a private beach which we were intending to take our dog to every day of our stay. We were very disappointed to discover that the private beach is accessed via an incredibly steep and very overgrown path which looked too dangerous to attempt. Guests at the next door B&B did manage to make it down there but struggled to make the climb back up the hill. I do think the description is very misleading as it gives the impression that the beach is at the end of the garden path. This is so not the case and needs to be honestly and properly explained in the overview of the cottage.
