Brecon 12 miles.
Trecastle ‘The Town of the Castle’ is a village beautifully positioned on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and is named after an early 12th century Motte and Bailey fortification which still exists, and is the largest of its type in the National Park. A pretty little village, Trecastle is scattered on either side of the A40 between Brecon and Llandovery, and offers 2 pubs, a cafe with a small farm shop and two wonderful antique centres where you will find fine examples of early Welsh life. The scenic Brecon Beacons beckon walkers and cyclists alike, or stay closer to the town and walk right up Trecastle’s very own mountain. The nearby trails are a must for mountain bikers and pony trekkers with outstanding scenery all year round. A short journey will bring you to Brecon to enjoy a visit to the Cathedral, the museums, a little shopping or maybe a boat trip on the canal. With the area steeped in Roman history there is much to discover in this beautiful part of Wales.
