  • "Having stayed here twice before we were disappointed: i) the outdoors furniture was filthy; ii) the cutlery, glasses, crockery and pans all needed washing before use; iii) previous starter supplies of tea, coffee, milk, etc."

were no longer offered, which seems mean; iv) mattresses in the second bedroom are old, lumpy and uncomfortable. Added to which the neighbouring property was in use by a family whose television played at a ridiculously high volume.

Thank you for your feedback. However, we were disappointed to read your comments and have discussed them with our housekeeper who has looked after our property for many years with excellent results. Had you reported your cleaning concerns she would certainly have returned and rectified matters. Regarding the provision of tea, coffe, milk etc., we have Never left them, as especially after Covid the instructions from BoS were NOT to leave any open consumables in the property as they could be a health hazard. However, we DO leave bottled wine and a packet of biscuits which we hope you enjoyed. Your comment regarding the John Lewis mattresses in the second bedroom has been noted but we have been staying at the barn this week with our family and to date have had no complaints. As you will no doubt appreciate, bedding is very personal and what suits some may not suit others. Lastly, we have no control over the guests staying at our neighbours' property and in hindsight perhaps a polite word with them may have diffused the situation for you. • "Chantry Barns is a lovely development."

Cottage is very well equipped, everything you need in the kitchen, space, seating, showers all great. Only negative is the mattresses in the twin and bunks, both very uncomfortable- recommend changing because spoils an otherwise great cottage. Also suggest moving the bench by parking bay because it makes reversing into the end barn parking space difficult. Orford is a lovely village to stay, great bakery, pubs and fish smokehouse.

  • "We found the property very well supplied and prepared."

The local facilities are good and the weather made outings very easy. Parking was simpler if we backed into the space from the driveway gate. The fridge is very small but overall we were delighted with the holiday in a quiet and pleasant area.

  • "The stand out qualities of this cottage was the perfect cleanliness and the range of equipment."

It seemed that everything had been thought of. Location was perfect - short stroll into the village along one of the footpaths, or to the quay along another. We had a minor issue during our stay but a quick call to the caretaker had it sorted the same day - couldn't fault the helpfulness and speed the issue was addressed. The cottage sleeps 6 but there is only one designated parking bay. (hence the not perfect score for facilities) In a perfect situation we would have had two. But this really is nit-picking. A great place to stay.
