About the location

Diss 5 miles; Stowmarket 16 miles.

The small town of Eye is considered by its inhabitants to be more like a village. It has a number of shops, pubs and restaurants, and monthly cinema nights are held at the community centre. Just 5 miles away is the market town of Diss, in the beautiful Waveney Valley. The town has some excellent examples of Georgian and Edwardian buildings, as well as an award-winning museum, the public park, the mere (lake) and shops and restaurants. The Market operates every Friday and coincides with a local antiques and collectables auction. Speciality markets, flea markets and farmers' markets are also held regularly. The town of Stowmarket has an 18 hole golf course, Suffolk's only open air museum, and a variety of shops and pubs. Explore the Suffolk Coast, or visit Thetford Forest (with its Go Ape high wire experience). Other attractions in the area include the wonderful Steam Museum and Gardens at Bressingham and the zoo at Banham.

The cottage was very big for 2 people, bed really comfy, nice area. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Mr Teece, Tonbridge, December 2013

The couple who own the property were very welcoming and made us comfortable on arrival without being intrusive. The property was spacious, warm and clean and we enjoyed the peaceful location and being able to take our old dog with us. We would love to return and see more of the area and would definately want to stay at The Bothy again.

Mrs Mason, Chelmsford, December 2013

We had a lovely week in The Bothy, this spacious cottage was well off the road up a lane to the farm it is situated on. For the quietest of holidays we could not have chosen better. Our hosts were very welcoming, and Suffolk has so much of interest to do and see even in late November. We went to fly Hawks at The Owl Sanctuary, what a brilliant day, only to find that there were Little Owls lining in and around the farm, brilliant. The cottage is spacious, beautifully clean and had everything we needed.

Mr Preedy, Southampton, November 2013

The Bothy is a spacious house, beautifully situated for local walks (public footpaths cross the farmland it is built on). Very close to Eye and Diss and many attractive villages. The owner was welcoming and helpful, but left us to get on with our break.

Mrs Rice, Chelmsford, November 2013

We liked the Bothy, it was great, everything you needed, home from home. We will go back.

Mrs Pope, Ashford, November 2013

This is our 4th time here and I think that speaks for itself.

Mr Duckett, Washington, June 2013

The cottage is lovely and the rooms spacious. The view from the back windows is a delight - a fine variety of trees, so many different birds, and other wildlife. Good local pubs. The nearby town of Eye is gracious, and has all that is necessary, and a good deli. There are so many places to visit - Diss, Stowmarket, Southwold, Bury St Edmunds, among them. Packenham Water Mill is a must visit.

Mr Wright, Southampton, June 2013

The peace, tranquility and the secure garden for our dog.

Mr Webb, Waltham Cross, February 2013

Excellent cottage in a lovely quiet area.

Mr Jones, Dover, January 2013

Very peaceful and 'cosy' despite the wintry weather. The owners very helpful and friendly to our needs. Would definitely recommend the Bothy to anyone.

Mr Hack, Colchester, January 2013
