The house is just superb - the owners have literally thought of everything and a bit more! Great location just a short stroll into the high street. Also very useful to have 2 allocated parking spaces. Really enjoyed breakfast on the balcony overlooking the river. The bed was very comfortable and everything was wonderfully clean and well presented. Wish we’d had longer than 2 days to enjoy the facilities - we will be back!

Clean, extremely well equipped, lovely furnishings and decor. The bed was comfortable and bed lined was good quality cotton. Very good communications with the owner, who kindly provided a welcome bottle of wine. Beautiful setting on the river and short walk into town. Whilst the house is near a busy road, we were not bothered by the noise of the traffic. Overall this was the most comfortable holiday rental experience we have had. Many thanks

  • "A lovely property that we would recommend to others though, coming from a quiet part of the country, we found the noise of traffic from the A27 bridge near to the cottage most distracting and difficult to sleep through."

For someone used to city traffic this probably would not be an issue. Other than that the cottage is very good and well situated.

  • "The cottage (more like a house) was everything we hoped for, and more."

It felt as though the entire property had just been refurbished - everywhere was spotless - from carpets to walls, furniture and utensils. Attention to detail was also much appreciated - from hooks on the back of the bathroom doors to spare batteries just in case the TV remote failed. (It didn't.) And although it's not really featured in the pictures, the 'spare room' leading to the balcony with the river view is another nice place to just chill. The road noise is obviously apparent, but knowing about it in advance meant it wasn't a nasty surprise. We just turned our backs and faced the other way for a gorgeous view up river.

  • "Initial response on approaching Swan Cottage is the alarming noise from the main road."

However, once inside the property it is reassuring that the only issue is a reluctance to sit on the balcony! The noise at night did not disturb our sleep but obviously it is a constant. Beds/bedding excellent. The cottage is very comfortable and well maintained and equipped. And so convenient for access to facilities in Arundel - particularly the Parsons Table !! Carparking spaces a bonus.

Perfectly located, just a short walk to a variety of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops. Bit noisy as near a road, but a set of foam ear plugs sorts that. Arundel Castle is a must see and there is a lovely farm shop called Charlie’s about a 10 minute drive away. Try the LG cafe for fabulous cakes and La Campania for authentic Italian.

It was comfortable, from the main lounge to the second lounge all was really good. The balcony overlooking the river was a delight. The beds were comfortable and warm. The bathrooms and showers were excellent, and the toilet on the ground floor was very convenient. The kitchen is modern and well kitted out. The owner also left us milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine to welcome us to our temporary home. Swan Cottage was our home for the week. Arundel is a lovely town with good pubs and excellent, if expensive, resturaunts. The surrounding area has many interesting places to visit, the pick of which was the Weald living museum, the home of BBCs "The Repair Shop". All in all, a very good choice for our holiday. Would highly recommend.

It had everything you could want: clean, spacious, well equipped, excellent attention to detail, a warm welcome from the host, off-street parking, and only a short walk into Arundel. The only downsides were beyond the owner's control: the fact that the river is less than picturesque at that point in its flow; and also the close proximity to the A27 (although the traffic becomes 'white noise' very quickly and can be ignored). A thoroughly enjoyable short break in accommodation that I would be happy to recommend to others.

It was tastefully furnished, extremely comfortable and with every conceivable facility. The décor was clearly thoughtfully chosen and the outlook onto the river was a bonus. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather on each day except one. The opportunity to visit the beautiful Arundel Castle was appreciated especially as it was within walking distance of Swan Cottage. Similarly, the town centre could be reached on foot - an important factor bearing in mind the problem of parking in the town centre. All in all, we had a quiet and relaxing time.We were looking forward immensely to being there and the peace and relaxation it promised and we were not disappointed.

About the location

ARUNDEL

Worthing 8 miles; Goodwood 8 miles; Chichester 10 miles.

Arundel sits just outside the South Downs National Park and with the River Arun winding through the town makes for a popular tourist destination when visiting Sussex. Combining one thousand years of history with independent shops, contemporary art galleries, restaurants, cafes, delightful drinking spots and great attractions, Arundel has a thriving events calendar. With leisure pursuits from walking across the South Downs to canoeing, boating or cycling, there is something for everyone when you visit Arundel. The town's long and varied history dates back to 1086 when it was mentioned in the Domesday Book and during the 14th century it became the seat for the Dukes of Norfolk. Arundel Castle is one of the longest inhabited country houses in England and is open to the public from April to October. Arundel Cathedral stands majestically over the town and is open every day. This beautiful building is well worth a visit but be ready for the steep climb up the hill and along cobbled streets. So much to see and do no matter what the weather or time of the year, Arundel is the perfect choice, now all you have to decide is "how long can I stay?"
