Battle 6 miles; Rye 12 miles.
The large historic town of Hastings offers a great mix of interesting places to visit, and is comprised of three parts, joined by the promenade. On one side is the Old Town, with narrow streets, attractive houses, Shipwreck and Fisherman's museums, wonderful tall black net huts, a fresh fish market, seafood restaurants and cafes. In the middle is its contemporary shopping centre and on the other side, St Leonards on Sea, with its fashionable Norman road with antique and vintage shops, and art galleries. West Hill is home to the 'Smugglers Adventure', and Pelham Beach. East Hill is home to Hastings Country Park, 660 acres of ancient woodlands, grasslands and heathlands crossing 5 miles over cliffs and rugged terrain. East Hill can also be reached by taking the 'lift', the steepest funicular railway in Britain. Whilst exploring Hastings, visit The Stade and watch fishermen land their catch, Blue Reef Aquarium and the remains of Hastings Castle. Further afield enjoy the NT properties of Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle, the cinque port of Rye, the Abbey at Battle or the beach and dunes at Camber Sands.

Previous visitors' comments about Turnstones:
Turnstones is a lovely property - very clean and comfortable. Good to be able to park at the front of the cottage. Close to Hastings and many other places of interest.
Mrs Grace, Portsmouth, February 2012
The property was warm and welcoming with a welcome pack supplied. Sheets, bathrooms and kitchen were beautifully clean. Everything you could possibly want i.e. TV, music, games etc made for a very comfortable week. Being able to park the car immediately outside the property was a bonus. Very much recommended.
Miss Nicol, St. Leonards-on-Sea, January 2012
The location of Turnstones is convenient for visiting so many places of interest. Hastings itself is picturesque and interesting and visits to Battle, Rye, lovely beaches and castles are within easy reach. To describe Turnstones as excellent or sufficient is to do it an injustice. I cannot think how the property could provide any greater comfort, and the welcome from the owners was warm and genuine. I think that they had thought of everything you could wish for - even to the point of giving details of tide times. I really hope to go again. Thank you so much.
Mrs Griffiths, Dudley, November 2011
