Your home away from home

Poolewe 4.3 miles.

Calmdale is a charming, detached, single-storey home tucked away in the hamlet of Inverasdale near Poolewe.

This cottage is more than just a holiday home, it's a front-row seat to the wild, untamed beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

Here, where the mountains meet the sea, time slows down and nature takes centre stage, perfect for a family or group of friends wishing to escape the hustle and bustle.

From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by the sweeping panorama of Loch Ewe, its glassy waters reflecting the ever-changing skies, with a majestic mountain range rising beyond like a painted backdrop.

Step inside, and you’ll find a home designed for comfort and connection.

The open-plan living space is a sanctuary of light and warmth, where expansive windows and patio doors invite the outside in.

As sunlight pours across the laminate floors, you’ll feel instantly at ease, whether you’re cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, sharing stories around the dining table, or curling up by the crackling woodburning stove with a drink in hand.

Each of the three well-appointed bedrooms offers its own quiet retreat, and each one features a Velux window with stunning views of the loch and where you can stargaze from bed or wake up to the soft light of dawn spilling across the hills.

The super-king-size and king-size rooms both boast stylish en-suites, while the twin room is ideal for children or friends sharing.

A pleasant family bathroom ensures everyone has space to refresh and unwind.

For moments of quiet or a family movie night, a second sitting room with a Smart TV and Sky offers a lovely escape.

And when the weather calls you outdoors, the enclosed garden is the perfect spot to breathe in the fresh Highland air, sip your morning coffee, or watch the stars emerge over Loch Ewe.

In the surrounding area, you’ll find a wealth of attractions pacing at a tranquil rhythm with nature.

Just a short drive away lies Poolewe, your nearest village, home to a friendly licensed cafe, local shops, and the world-renowned Inverewe Garden, a lush botanical paradise cared for by the National Trust for Scotland.

Take a leisurely walk to uncover secluded beauty spots and breathtaking views, or head to Firemore Beach, the nearest stretch of golden sand, where the sea meets the sky in perfect harmony.

Gairloch is the nearest town with eateries, museums, a golf course and farm shop.

In Inverasdale itself, the Old Schoolhouse is now a community hub and opens as a tearoom once a week.

There is also a pizza and beer van run by the local brewery (Ewe brew - The Loch Ewe Brewing Company) there on Monday evenings.

Local companies also offer escorted guides for walking hills or mountains, canoeing, paddleboarding and climbing whilst there are boat trips for wildlife spotting from both Inverewe gardens and Gairloch.

Nature lovers will relish the local wildlife and birdspotting opportunities - highland cattle are free roaming during some months of the year whilst deer and both sea eagles and golden eagles can be seen.

With ample parking, space for two well-behaved pets and a location that feels both remote and welcoming, Calmdale is a place to reconnect with nature, with loved ones and with yourself. Holiday Let License HI-10993-F

POOLEWE

Dingwall 50 miles; Ullapool 50 miles.

The pretty village of Poolewe sits in the shelter of Loch Ewe, at the mouth of the River Ewe where it tumbles down from Loch Maree. It is a pretty place in an area of spectacular scenery and is home to a well-stocked shop and a small swimming pool. The world-renowned Inverewe Garden (National Trust for Scotland) is half a mile across the bay from the village. The site was developed by the botanist Osgood Mackenzie from 1862 until his death in 1922. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, it is home to exotic plants, imported from all over the world – a must for all visitors to the area. Firemore beach is five miles to the west and north along the coast is Gruinard Bay with its striking sands; a series of attractive beaches skirt the bay and a number are easily reached from the main road. With spectacular scenery, mountains, excellent hillwalking, golf, fishing, wildlife cruises and much more, this is a great area for a holiday!
