The small hamlet of Eggleston is situated in the heart of beautiful Teesdale, between Middleton-in-Teesdale and the market town of Barnard Castle. Eggleston itself consists of a cluster of stone houses, a few farm dwellings and a local pub. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep, with the Pennine and Teesdale Ways, the River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force all close by. Middleton-in-Teesdale lies in the heart of Teesdale, in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', and offers a good range of shops, pubs and places to eat. The nearby market town of Barnard Castle offers a full range of facilities. Local attractions include the magnificent Raby Castle in nearby Staindrop, the Bowes Museum, Beamish Open Air Museum, Yorkshire National Railway Museum, Alnwick Gardens and of course, not to be missed, Hadrian’s Wall, the great Roman frontier across the north of England.

Add to this the wonderful location and the spacious gardens and you have all the ingredients for a group of friends and family to get together and enjoy a holiday in peace and tranquillity amidst beautiful countryside. This was truly the best cottage we've been to! The setting is fabulous and the cottage itself was a delight with lovely decor. The cottage was very well equipped and spacious! Ideal for our family with teenage kids and the Grandparents! The caretaker was extremely helpful and nice too!

We liked the quiet location and the secure garden allowing our young family to enjoy playing outside, watching the workings of the farm and livestock crazing in the field next door. Accommodation and ability to entertain friends in a relaxed environment.
