Location: Heighington

Barnard Castle 15 miles; Durham 20 miles.

Heighington is a small village in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale, in County Durham, 15 miles from Barnard Castle, 20 miles from the magnificent cathedral city of Durham. Consisting of a small group of traditional cottages, four pubs and a Norman Church, and boasting lovely views of the surrounding Dales countryside, Heighington is a great rural base for this part of the northern Dales. Barnard Castle is known affectionately as 'Barney' by residents and visitors alike, and boasts shops and eateries laid out over cobbled streets, yards and back lanes. A trip to Durham with its majestic castle and cathedral is a must, as is a visit to the wild and rugged northern fells of Yorkshire and Cumbria. Nearby attractions include Raby Castle, Eggleston Abbey, Rokerby Hall, Hadrians Wall and Northumberland Coast. In 2006 Heighington was judged from amongst 11 other villages around the UK to be the BBC's Perfect Village.

Previous visitors' comments about Todd Fall Farmhouse:

The size of the house was brilliant, enough space by far for 12 of us with plenty of room to all chill in different rooms if required. Perfect amounts of crockery and added bonus that wifi was included. The views were incredible and the house owners very welcoming.

Sleeps 12 comfortably - great for a family holiday. Outdoor areas are very good. Great service, food and hospitality at the George and Dragon in Heighington. All in all a fantastic holiday.
