About the location

Staindrop

Barnard Castle 5 miles; Durham 20 miles.

The pretty Teesdale village of Staindrop has always been closely associated with the fortunes of nearby Raby Castle and its owners. The Castle (open to the public) is one of the most grand in England. Enlarged and beautified over the centuries, the medieval heart remains and a walled garden and 200 acre deer park add to the splendour. Staindrop has many interesting shops, pubs and cafes set round its long village green. The popular market town of Barnard Castle is 5 miles away, with its castle, the Bowes Museum, plus of course its wide range of shops and tea rooms. Walkers will enjoy the many walks around Teesdale.

Lovely countryside. Lovely views, cosy cottage.

Miss Lynch, Leicester, March 2014

Fabulous well equipped cottage, with very pleasant owners.

Mrs Clemmett, Ripon, October 2013

We were made to feel at home and it was lovely area, our dog felt at home too and the accommodation was ideal for my mother-in-law too as she isn't very good on her legs but she was in her own end of the accommodation but with easy reach if we were needed.

Ms Smith, Peterborough, June 2013

The owners were friendly and made us all feel like we were family - nothing was too much trouble. It was home from home and set in a great place with wonderful views and places to visit. The kids loved being able to play safely in the court yard on the front, we enjoyed ourselves and liked it so much that we are looking at re-booking again next year. Would recommend it and have told family and friends.

Miss Pearson, Sheffield, June 2012
