The idyllic Wensleydale village of Carperby is situated in a walker’s paradise close to well known Aysgarth Falls and impressive Bolton Castle which dates back to 1379. During the 17th Century Carperby was an important centre for Quakerism and the largest building today is the classically styled Friends Meeting House which overlooks the market cross and village green. The village pub serves good food and there is an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market town of Leyburn. Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are both easily accessible from Carperby.

The village itself is at the heart of the walker’s paradise of Upper Wensleydale, and offers a pub serving food, a village green and a children’s playground. With so much glorious Dales countryside on the doorstep, this is an ideal spot for a Yorkshire break at any time of the year.

A quiet peaceful atmosphere and wonderful scenery.
Mrs France, Nottingham, July 2012
Location excellent for exploring the area. The large kitchen/diner gave us an alternative space to the lounge for leisure activities such as board games while others read or watched TV.
