The idyllic Wensleydale village of Redmire is situated in a walker’s paradise close to Castle Bolton, Leyburn and the famous Aysgarth Falls. Redmire is on the Wensleydale Railway, which features steam locomotives during the summer, and has regular special events. Castle Bolton, a mile away, is one of the finest preserved medieval castles in Yorkshire, and dates back to 1378. Much of the castle, with its mighty towers and rectangular courtyard, survived the orders to destroy famous Yorkshire castles issued by Parliament in the Civil War. Nearby Carperby was an important centre for Quakerism and the largest building today is the classically styled Friends Meeting House, which overlooks the market cross and village green. Redmire's village pub serves good food, and there is an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market town of Leyburn. What's more, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are both easily accessible from Redmire.
A picturesque, stone-built, mid-terrace cottage, in the centre of the pretty Dales village of Redmire. Renovated to a very high standard, this Redmire cottage, one of our finest Yorkshire Dales cottages, retains much original character, including exposed beams and a lovely fireplace housing an inviting multi-fuel stove. This first-class Redmire cottage offers a warm and cosy sitting room, a modern kitchen diner and two delightful bedrooms. The village itself is at the heart of the walkers' paradise of Upper Wensleydale, and offers a pub serving food, a village green, and beautiful views of the Dales countryside from almost every part of the village. Nearby, the town of Leyburn, with its quaint market square, offers a good choice of shops, eateries and galleries and the famous horse racing village of Middleham is just a short drive. With so much glorious Dales countryside on the doorstep, this is an ideal Redmire cottage for a romantic break at any time of the year.
