  • "A very comfortable apartment in an excellent location."

Everything we needed was provided and there was a lot of local information to guide us. There was only one toilet roll but this was okay as there were only two of us. Insufficient for a party of four though!

  • "We had an excellent stay with my parents, an 18 month old little girl and my parents Labrador."

We were visiting my parents in Lincolnshire from Australia where we live now. We stayed for 2 nights and it was exactly what we were looking for. The place is very clean, easy to move around with a dog and a toddler!. We cooked each evening in and had great meals in the lounge. The lounge is very cosy. We stayed in mid 30 degree summer heat but it would be amazing for a winter break too. The flag was cool with the windows open. We had sundowners on the green just outside the flat. Easy access to all amenities - post office across the road and 3 pubs and a great ice cream shop within 5 mins walks. Great place to locate yourself for access to the dales. V good amenities for dogs. The garden is great which is a short walk around the corner outside. Tracey was very communicative and an excellent host - even sending our little girls toy rabbit to us after leaving it there!! Would highly recommend!!

  • "The owner Tracy was very welcoming and especially helpful and friendly, helping us carry our stuff in from the car on arrival, and providing info as needed ."

The apartment is compact, like the usual holiday cottage or apartment in the Dales. It opens directly onto Reeth’s central square and is perhaps 100 m or so from the shop and post office, a little further from the pubs and restaurants- so the location is excellent. The apartment‘s kitchen is particularly well equipped. There is a large and very comfy leather lounge settee, good tv, woodburner and an adequate dining table for 4. The decor is pleasant. The beds are very comfortable and the shower and bath are great. The stairs up to the apartment are a bit narrow and steep as expected. Our dogs were kept out of the bedrooms and off the furniture. There is a choice of parking options. We had a fabulous 8-day stay in Reeth and our accommodation was a major part of that. We highly recommend No. 4 Alpine Cottages

Tracey who owns the cottage is on hand if needed and is really helpful. We holiday in Reeth a couple of times a year and know the area but if you are not so sure of where to go and what to do there’s an abundance of information including maps provided for you. All in all, ten out of ten and we will definitely be back.

Lovely first floor apartment. Tracey (the owner) was very helpful and gave us some information on the best places to go. Reeth itself is a great place to stay if you're after a quiet time. The river nearby kept the boys happy for hours and the walk up the hill was just right for an 8 and 11 year old. The table tennis table and pool table were great to keep the boys occupied when we were back at the house. The Copper Kettle next door does the best ploughmans ever.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Alpine Cottage."

Tracey was a great host; we felt she was there whenever we needed, and very helpful, but it didn't ever feel like she was intruding on us. The kitchen facilities are great, the bed is really comfortable, and the log burner is very warm. Our dog absolutely loves Tracey too! Having the Copper Kettle café right next door is a big bonus, with gluten free and vegan options. It's no trouble to get round to the garden for toilet breaks for the dog, but the green right outside the front door is a very easy option. The garden is lovely, and a sun trap throughout the day (as long as the sun is out!). There are so many walks to explore and plenty of guidebooks in the cottage, but Tracey is also very knowledgeable on walks and places to visit. We would definitely stay here again. Thank-you!

About the location

REETH

Leyburn 8 miles; Richmond 11 miles; Barnard Castle 15 miles; Kirkby Stephen 22 miles.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
