• "Our first time staying in one of the cottages but certainly won’t be our last."

  The accommodation was superb; clean, warm, comfortable, spacious and everything needed was there. Set in a lovely location, quiet and ideal for walks. A lot of thought had gone in to providing visitors with In Door entertainment on rainy Yorkshire days; wide selection of books, games, TV and free WiFi, perhaps our only complaint is that our stay was too short! Would certainly recommend staying in The Willows and can only say a massive thank you to the owners..faultless and first class.

• "Just back from a 5 night stay at "The Willows"."

  Only 1 word to describe it "PERFECT" The location was ideal for us & our 2 4 legged friends & SO peaceful. Just what the Dr ordered! The photos certainly didn't lie & we could tell a lot of thought had been taken when supplying everything that anyone would need, and more. Lovely power shower & the double bed was delightful. Sofas extra comfy & a nice big TV which we are used to! To have the option of Netflix, Prime & an abundance of DVDs & Books was a very extra special addition. All in all the owners have certainly gone far & beyond what they needed to for the reasonable price. We met Steve (the owner) on one of our doggie walks & he was extremely pleasant & we had a really nice chat. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in that part of the country. Our booking was last minute as we had been let down by a previous host, but it turned out he did us a favour! The negative feedback that was at the top of the reviews when I was hunting for a place to book, could have very easily put me off, but thankfully I read another 40 odd positive reviews which helped me make my decision. All I can say about the person who wrote such negativity is that they must live in a parallel universe as they most certainly were not describing the same place that we stayed in & it was only a short time before we did, so things couldn't have been changed that much! We wish Steve & Ali all the good luck in the world with their lodges. If ONLY it was closer we wouldn't hesitate for a moment to book again but 5.5 hrs journey takes its toll as we aren't youngsters anymore lol. • "A peaceful, relaxing holiday."

  The site was very quiet, clean and the gardens were well maintained. Everyone was very friendly, especially the permanent residents. There was a path on the edge of the site which was ideal for walking the dog. A couple of miles away is a shopping centre with Tesco Superstore, Aldi, Boots etc. The lodge was immaculate and very comfortable. There was everything we needed and everything worked as it should do. The outside veranda was gated so our small dog was safe inside. No weeds growing through! During our stay, we lost the lodge key, but Steve and Ali, the owners, were very quick in getting us a replacement. Thank you. We were fortunate in having a new mattress which was very comfortable. We could not believe the comments left by the previous reviewer as they do not reflect the high standard of the lodge. We would definitely recommend the lodge to our friends and we would love to return in the near future. Thank you.

• "Although you have provided everything in the lodge we found everything to be very old and poor quality."

  The double bed was extremely poor with springs jutting out and very badly sagging at both sides, and new pillows needed.The settees were dirty and again the springs had gone meaning it sagged very badly and we both needed to sit on cushions to compensate for this. The crockery was well past it’s sell by (really scratched and dirty looking). Fridge door was sagging and needs attention. Sun umbrella was in very bad state. Decking with nettles growing through etc etc. All in all definitely would not recommend to anyone else.

  Thank you for leaving excrement splashes all over the toilet's and leaving the lodge in such a bad condition we had to call the cleaners in for an emergency clean pictures with date stamp sent. Not once did you contact Sykes or ourselves, and if it was so bad why did you stay for the full 7 days. We have checked everything you have said and not one thing is true, even checked with the current guests who are in and they can not believe this review. You have been charged for the damages and clean and blocked from our properties. Everything you have mentioned has NEVER been brought up before by ANY guests. After we did so much for you, you have not left one single good thing about the lodge, we are disgusted with this untrue review and we will be taking this further. Property Owner

• "What a super location - quiet, beautiful location, great access to the Yorkshire attractions."

  Easy to find with the 'brown' road signage and SATNAV takes you to the front door. The Willows is nicely equipped, we didn't have thing we thought was missing. We had a pump constantly running within a cupboard next to kitchen; could here it in main living area but nothing could be heard in bedrooms - a comfortable quiet nights sleep. Also, need to mention how clean the premises are - great job.

• "Had a lovely stay, surprised at how spacious and comfortable the accommodation was."

  The enclosed decking area was ideal for our we dogs, they loved looking out at the coming and goings. The site is quiet and beautiful and lovely to walk round with the dogs. There was everything we needed and the large TV and entertainment package was great in the evening after a day exploring this lovely area of Yorkshire. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay.

• "Lovely lodge on a very peaceful site, bed could have been better but each to their own"

  Thank you for your review Paula, however in over 150 bookings we have never had an issue with the beds but we changed your mattress for a firmer one on your 2nd day of a 2 week booking within an hour and you said it was fantastic. As per terms and conditions it states to keep pets off all furniture, but you decided to break this rule, shame but each to their own! Property Owner

• "Property reasonably comfortable Nice location Sadly stained smelly carpet same with the upholstery A dirty frying pan Uncomfortable beds no spare blankets I had to go out to get some more as the property was very cold as I discovered the fuse was missing from the fire owner said previous guest had burnt it out He eventually came and replaced the fuse and it worked He also controlled the thermostat from his phone set sometimes at 18 deg or less the thermostat is inside corridor enclosed so cannot read temperatures in bedroom or lounge after 3days he eventually set it to come on a6."

  30 am at 20 degrees but it was only for 15 minutes When on holiday I expect the same comfort as at home. This was not value for money as we had paid for energy in the fee paid This property is in need of a deep clean

• "A lovely property on a quiet site just a couple of miles from amenities."

  Pleasant walks from the doorstep. The dog-friendly lodge was clean and comfortable with everything needed for a holiday stay. The owners, Steve and Ali have done a great job and were quick to respond before, during and after our stay. We are happy to recommend The Willows and would stay again if in the area.

• "This Lodge was amazing."

  I've stayed in many lodges but this one really stood out for its customer service. The owner Stebe couldn't do enough for myself and my nanna. He personally welcomed us when we arrived and then booked a restaurant for us. Knowing it was my nannas birthday, he organised a special welcome and arranged for a surprise birthday dessert in the restaurant. Steve was very quick to respond to messages and was always on hand if we needed anything. Fantastic service! Lovely Lodge and beautiful setting. 100% recommended.

• "Steve & Ali take take pride in The Willows, it is well maintained with all of the facilities anyone would need."

  The location is good for visiting North Yorkshire and The Dales. The site is quiet and has a good dog walk. Steve recommended the Farmers Arms pub for eating out and it is worth a visit (or 2). We had a great week.

• "From the moment we booked "The Willows" we knew we had "booked a winner" The property actually exceeded the written description, and the photos actually undersold the size and comfort of the bedrooms."

  A large kitchen area made self catering a doddle, and with large fridge, freezer, dual function oven, not to forget a dishwasher, we had everything we needed. Beautiful and comfortable lounge area, with open plan dining area with adequate room for 6 people if you so wished. The property is an a fantastic site, which mixes owner residences with let out properties, so giving an eclectic mix of people. Friendly and helpful reception also added to our experience. Special mention to owner Steve, who could not have done more to help ensure we had a great experience. Outstanding communication and a real and obvious concern that we had a great time, really made this a short break to remember. (PS, Steve, your wine went down a treat, and the thoughtful bottle of milk for a quick brew following our chilly day arrival was most appreciated) 5* review for a 5* property - Fantastic

• "The Willows is one of the best holiday lets we have stayed in great value for money."

  Set in quiet countryside with no road noise. The lodge is spacious and beautifully decorated. There is a fridge, separate freezer, dishwasher, and big 50 inch smart T.V with Netflix, The Wifi was excellent which you don’t always get in other properties. There are 2 bedrooms one being en suite with walk in shower and another separate bathroom with bath. It was spotlessly clean when we walked in and it is dog friendly with a big enclosed wrap around balcony area with lovely fields nearby to walk the dog. We met the owner Steve who was friendly and made us feel really welcome. We spent Christmas week there and it was lovely, we were warm and cosy and spent Christmas day with the grandkids. What is not to like. Hope to return in the future.

• "We have just returned from a weeks relaxing holiday at the Willows."

  We cannot fault the accommodation everything was so clean, tidy, very warm and homely. The hosts Ali and Steve and family were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Badgers Retreat is in a quiet location and nicely situated for getting out and about to some lovely locations which have some beautiful walks so don't forget your walking boots. • "The Willows is home from home."

  The bedding was beautifully fresh and clean, every kitchen appliance up to date, bathrooms spotless and the lounge and dining room large but cosy and inviting. The tv has every channel possible if you want to spend relaxing indoors or watching the deer on the surrounding countryside from your living room window. Steve and Ali are brilliant hosts and always more than willing to give advice on places to visit and eating places which give discount for Willows residents. We will definitely return without hesitation.

• "Superb lodge with interior detailed to high level, providing a ‘homely’ feel."

  Cleanliness was 10/10 and can see owners have provided a lodge that they would want to stay in and have comforts of home. The lodge has all appliances and utensils and more, so no need to worry when cooking or wanting to relax with a movie. Wi-Fi was superb and fast so you can stay connected with friends and family, or work if needs be. Surprised at spaciousness of the lodge as pictures on Sykes does not give justice. Owners left messages to ensure our stay was going to plan and they were there if we needed something. NOT a distance owner using a management company, available and hands on if needs be. Definitely will book again!

• "The willows is a beautiful lodge on a very quiet site."

  The lodge was incredibly well equipped and we found ourselves wanting for nothing. The addition of board games, books and dvds (there are loads) went down very well especially with our children. We mentioned a small problem where a blind wasn't closing and opening and stressed that it wasn't too important to us as it was in the dining area but we were just wanting to make Steve and Ali aware it might need looking at and Steve was there within minutes to take a look. Reassuring if you had a more urgent concern. The smart TV had loads of options with netflix, prime, disney+ and loads more. The WiFi in the lodge was also excellent which if you have kids these days is very important haha! Overall we enjoyed our stay in a clean, well equipped, comfortable and well decorated lodge that felt like a home from home. Exactly what you need for a break away. Thanks again Barry & Charlotte

• "The lodge was lovely and I would use the company again."

  The only reason I didn’t give full marks is because the heating was on a timer. It only came on at times when we didn’t actually need it. It was very cold during the night! It made it difficult to sleep. If this could be changed it would get full marks.

  Thank you for the review, the heating was placed on a timer due to the extremely hot weather, 32 degrees. During your stay it was one of the hottest days recorded so I am struggling to understand how you was very cold? Also, you have taken the USB plug that was with the lodge for guests, not to take for yourself. Property Owner

• "Steve and Ali made us feel more than welcome on arrival and greeted us like we were old friends."

  You couldn’t wish for more genial hosts. The property itself was extremely clean and well looked after, and nicely furnished throughout. For us it was an ideal place to explore the dales, get some peace and tranquility and chill out. As someone that currently has temporary mobility issues, the few steps up to the front door didn’t present any problems. Inside the kitchen is fully equipped with a Fridge / Freezer, Dish Washer and Washing Machine. Nice on some evenings to sit on the Verandah and watch the Rabbits and Hares bounding across the upper field opposite. We will definitely be back

• "A very clean and comfortable chalet, just right for my mobility issues."

  ( there are 3 steps up to the door, luckily I could manage those) The site was well maintained and attractive, a pleasure to come back to each evening. We were blessed with lovely weather and sitting out each evening on the balcony was wonderful. We highly recommend The Willows, a great base for exploring the magnificent Yorkshire Dales.

• "There is always an element of risk when booking accommodation on line."

  I didn't need to worry.The lodge was brilliant. Tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean & fully equipped with everything you would need or want. Steve,the owner was very good, making sure we were ok. The site was well situated between the moors/dales,making sightseeing easy.Very quite,well cared for site.
