  • "We booked this cottage for a family get-together and for 8 of us it was a great space."

Beautiful cottage with family friendly layout, in a lovely location. Games room was a huge hit with the kids, as was the hot tub! The communication about the booking prior to our stay was great, Nige and Donna were really helpful. A couple of slight disappointments were the quality of bedding and towels. For such a lovely property, the expectations we had were high; perhaps white cotton sheets and bedding - at least for the adult rooms. But the towels were awful - so thin, small, shedding bits which stuck to skin and dried so much in a drier that they did not absorb water (awful for those with long hair). The owner should really invest in nice, more practical towels. We also had a problem with the dishwasher - it had been blocked up by previous guests and left full of greasy horrible water. On raising this with the cottage team however, they did address very promptly and brought the products we asked for in order to fix it. Overall it was a great stay and we would return - but with our own towels.

  • "We really enjoyed our time at Cringles House."

Great accommodation for a family weekend, warm in extreme conditions, loved the hot tub in the snow, ample space, great dining area, games room was well used. We do however have some comments, suggestions and one complaint. 1) There is a fridge next to the table which we found to be a freezer. We lost a bottle of champagne and a bottle of wine in the ensuing disaster. This item needs to be clearly marked as a freezer....... 2) There is an oven not working ( lower left) which makes it difficult to cook a roast for 10. 3) Some more large pans and some proper roasting pans would be good. 4) Both front and back doors very tight in frames. 5) Outside light at front is very poor. 6) Having the wood burner was great but kindling and big logs makes it difficult to keep going in a small burner. Either smaller logs or provide an axe to split big ones please? 7) No mirrors in some of the bathrooms. Difficult to shave, install lenses etc. 8) More mugs and glass tumblers would be good. Sorry we broke one wine glass trying to get it in the dish washer.... 9) One or two comments about bed comfort..... Generally we loved the place and may well book again for next year....

  • "Absolutely beautiful house which is perfectly located."

Great kitchen which is well equipped. Pool table and kids FIFA game kept the kids highly entertained. Bedrooms all very large and cozy. Dining works easily for 12. On arrival there were so many goodies for us (bubbly, beer, jams, cookies, chips, candy’s…), and also a Christmas tree. Great place for family. Highly recommend and we will be back for sure.

The decor is in need of a bit of love and some of the mattresses are a bit uncomfortable- but overall a great place and we would definitely recommend it and would stay again

Thank you for your constructive feedback. I am pleased that you enjoyed your holiday, and would definately recommend us and would stay again. I have spoken to our housekeepers and will replace the mattresses that referred to. We hope to see you in the future! Property Owner

  • "We took the family away for a Christmas present, the house looked perfect, The size of the rooms were generous, the welcome pack was lovely and appreciated, hot tub was fantastic, all appliances you would need are there."

Downside, quite a few of radiators don’t work, especially the ones in the twin bedroom my son n daughter in law were freezing bath nights. The cleanliness is only surface clean, under the settee cushions were lots of debris and a pack of biscuits. We tried to hoover the house before we left but the hoover in the house is useless which might account for the house not being clean. The dryer wasn’t drying, when my daughter checked the filter it was thick with fluff which could be a fire hazard, the shower in the double en-suite wasn’t draining properly so my husband removed the plug and pulled out a large string of gunk. Overall we had a lovely time here but if the radiators worked and the house was cleaned properly it would have been a 5* stay.

  • "This property was perfect for our break away."

I was so pleased when we arrived as from the photographs I thought some of the rooms looked a little tired/ dated but this was not the case at all, I was pleasantly surprised that is was so fresh and clean and much better than I had expected. Great modern kitchen facilities and large open plan dining/living room space for spending time catching up with friends until the early hours. The house was warm and clean with spectacular views in a superb location with ample parking. The hot tub is huge and the wind shield worked well to shelter us from the January weather! The only suggested I could make was that the extra fold out bed in the double room was not so comfy but we didn't need to use it in the end as we were all happy to share the doubles which were comfy. (The hoover could be replaced as we struggled to do a great job of hoovering on departure as it isn't very powerful). We arrived to an unexpected welcome package of lovely drinks and treats which was a great bonus. Communication was good. Fantastic time in a wonderful place I would highly recommend and would definitely re book if I have the opportunity of an escape again. (oh one thing for Sykes is I felt you could wait to email about departure stuff until the last day as I wasn't ready to think about leaving in the middle of my stay as I was having such a wonderful time

  • "We had the best of times at Cringles House."

Location was excellent as was the space. Because of the changing Covid situation as we headed up to our week at Cringles, on several occasions we emailed the owner and he even rang us. Excellent comms. He even arranged the most beautiful week for us! Our daughter was married from Cringles and, in the end, everything worked perfectly. The hot tub is a 5* bonus. Lots of special little touches were included. We would highly recommend Cringles House and will certainly return for a family reunion when restrictions allow.

Hot tub was unreal. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely visit again Amazing, spacious, warm happy home. Nice touches were Prosecco, cakes, bread, milk and butter left but disappointed to see the bbq was left to empty from previous user and wasn’t enough toilet roll. Hot tub was brill. Overall, we've even talked about booking again some time next year as we enjoyed it so much.

  • "This is the 3rd time I have visited Cringles House and as before, it was fantabulous!"

!! I could have put met expectations in the review but that's only because I know what high standards the owners have and that is evident in the presentation of Cringles House and what it offers. The surroundings are gorgeous and as everyone puts, the hot tub is amazing!! It is the only 10 person hot tub I have ever found and it is just lovely. The layout of the house means you are not on top of one another, considering there's 10 people, and if you want a bit of alone time, it's not an issue. The communication with the owners, with Sykes and with the folks in charge of housekeeping and the hot tub is excellent, nothing being too much trouble. Unfortunately, on our weekend, we had an unwanted visitor...Storm Dennis!!!! But, that being said, we still managed to get in the hot tub, it was hilarious because a few of us had our walking hats on, you can imagine what a memory that made. lol The only reason I wouldn't want to put a good review on is because, I want to keep it for myself, but you know what they say "sharing is caring" and how could I deprive others from experiencing such a fantastic time. Can't wait for my next visit (already in the planning), try it, I will guarantee it will not disappoint.

I went with a different group of friends and they definitely had their expectations exceeded, they could not stop complimenting the cottage, the facilities and the best ever 10 seater hot tub ever. We had such a fantastic time they all want to go back. Whenever I want to look at a cottage, I use Sykes and have used them a few times this year, very easy to use and love the £20 holiday hold rather than have to pay the full deposit straight away.

  • "We used the beautiful Cringles House for a base closer to our wedding venue near Bolton Abbey."

The house was absolutely perfect and all our friends and family that stayed there fell in love with it. The grounds are beautiful with the sitting room over looking the gorgeous rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales and a fab hot tub in the back garden. All the beds were externally comfortable and the dining table comfortably sat 10 adults and a toddler in the high chair. Finally, the service from the Cringles House team was exceptional. One of the showers wasn’t draining and they came and sorted this while we were at our wedding so it was fixed for when we got home. The hot tub was clearly explained and also checked while we were there. The house team also left us a bunch of flowers, bottle of Prosecco, cars and cupcakes to wish us well for our married life and that was absolutely going above and beyond our expectations. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making our special day even better than we could have hoped for - we are keen to book again in the future! Lizzie & Sam

The accommodation exceeded ALL of our expectations. Loads of room in the house so we could spend the time inside doing our own thing (cinema time, chat time, cooking time, music time) at the same time. The hot tub was amazing, the first time I have ever seen a 10 seater and comfy when we were all in. The weekend was so wonderful we have already discussed booking again for the future. The only reason I would not want to recommend this is if I was concerned they wanted to book it the same time as me!!! lol Joking apart, if you want high standard accommodation with the fantastic bonus of a hot tub and you are a large group this would be perfect for you. The scenery is fabulous and you can partake in lovely walks to take in the countryside or to have a look at the nearby villages. Can't rate this highly enough.

The facilities were amazing and the hot tub great after our 10 mile walk. The lovely welcome pack was very thoughtful and the little touches like hand wash, washing up liquid, tea coffee ,milk, beer and wine well received. It isn't a criticism, but a few more bar stools would have been welcomed as we tended to congregate in the kitchen. Mark the hot tub man was polite and attentive and the hot tub fitted 11 of us in with a little room to spare too. • "Property was very nice and in a great location for visiting the sights in Dales ."

The problem is that house was so close to a busy A road with articulated lorries and buses thundering past at high speed that it ruined the experience. The garden was not private as the garden wall was low on the adjoining road ( obviously not to spoil the great view) but every vehicle that drove past could look straight in on you. The A road was approximately 20 feet from the hot tub and back garden had a high hedge and beyond this was a footpath and then the main road so if you are thinking of relaxing reading a book in the peaceful Yorkshire Dales then this is not the place to stay. Had I realised this I would not have booked the property.

About the location

ADDINGHAM

Bolton Abbey 3 miles; Ilkley 3 miles; Skipton 4 miles.

The historic village of Addingham nestles in the valley of the River Wharfe between Ilkley and Skipton, just 3 miles from the Dales National Park at Bolton Abbey. In the Doomsday Book, Addingham is referred to as 'Ediham', which probably meant 'Home of Edi', the Earl Edwin of Bolton Abbey. A corn mill was mentioned in 1315, near where High Mill is today, and the weir across the river is one of the oldest medieval structures in the village. Today's village is a thriving, small community with several good pubs serving fine ale and excellent food, a scattering of small shops and a delightful golf course surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the 'Strid' is a must. The Victorian Spa town of Ilkley is worth a visit, with its wide streets, world-famous Box Tree Restaurant and Bettys Tea Rooms, while Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”. Grassington and Malham are within reach, plus Skipton is also close by with its ancient castle, beautiful old parish church, colourful street market, canal trips and Embsay Steam Railway.
