Nestling at the foot of Great Whernside, near the head of Upper Wharfedale, this idyllic village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned - an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valley side woodland. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking and mountain biking areas in the Dales, with The Dales Way passing nearby. The village itself lying on the banks of the River Wharfe is a real delight with traditional built stone cottages, two excellent pubs, a post office, speciality shops and a hotel. No surprise that the hit movie Calendar Girls was filmed here and in other locations throughout the area. An excellent base for enjoying the famous Dales, historic market towns, caves and waterfalls of this magical area.

After a long day in the hills you can return to this Kettlewell cottage and enjoy a long soak in the bath, or a cosy night by the open fire – bliss. Stroll round the village of the much-loved film Calendar Girls, soak up the wonderful Dales atmosphere and enjoy the magnificent countryside of this delightful area. A fabulous location for a romantic break, with two of the finest, award-winning pubs in the Yorkshire Dales located only a stone’s throw away, the area boasts outstanding walks in every direction, and Malham Tarn, Buckden and Grassington, with its famous Dickensian Festival, are just a short drive away from this Kettlewell cottage.

Easy to book! Good location for those seeking a 'get away from it all' break. There is a small enclosed paved patio area which worked well with our dog which was very important to us.
