Location: Cragg Vale

Hebden Bridge 4 miles.

The beautiful Pennine hamlet of Cragg Vale is situated on the steep and winding Cragg Road and is the longest incline in England, still a major challenge to cyclists. The road winds its way up to beautiful heather-clad moorland, 1000 feet above sea level, and wooded cloughs and babbling brooks that cascade down the hillsides beckon the walker to explore the countryside. On the other side of the valley is the village of Luddenden and the glorious oak woodlands that make up Jerusalem Farm, a local nature reserve made famous by TV's In Loving Memory. Nearby Hebden Bridge is a diverse and bohemian town home to restaurants, bars, bistros, markets, an independent cinema, art galleries, and the picturesque Rochdale Canal. A scenic car ride over the moors takes you to the splendid Parsonage Museum which commemorates the famous Bronte family. The area is a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway. Skipton, "Gateway to the Dales", is also an easy and scenic car ride away.

Previous visitors' comments about Lower Lumb Lodge:

The location was good, even though it was a hikers walk in front of the cottage. The Cabin had more than we expected and was well kitted out. The purpose of the holiday was to catch up with old friends from Todmorden, and it was a successful venture.
Mrs Fosbrook, Romford, September 2012

The property was well equipped, in a stunning location. The views from the front of the lodge along the valley are postcard worthy. Taken many photos! The walks around are great even if hilly in places. A great base to explore the local area. Would recommend it and love to stay again!
Mr Wood, Waterlooville, August 2012

Everything was there to ensure a comfortable 'home from home' holiday. A real credit to the owner who had thought of everything down to the finest detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the friendly little visiting cat was the icing on the cake for us.
Mr Purdy, Norwich, May 2012

A lovely remote log cabin, perfect to get away from it all. Would definitely return, if only it wasn't booked up!
