Leyburn 7 miles; Hawes 10 miles.

Nestling in a hollow of the little-known Walden Valley, West Burton is a jewel not to be overlooked. This pretty and ancient village in the heart of Wensleydale is situated in truly beautiful countryside, with old stone cottages surrounding the famous broad village green. A walker’s paradise, with wonderful Dales countryside, magnificent views and the small, but spectacular Cauldron Falls still delighting visitors since the days when the great artist, J M W Turner, captured its watery magic. The traditional village pub overlooking the green serves good food, there is a well-stocked village shop with cafe and a butcher’s, while there is an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market towns of Hawes and Leyburn. A delightful Dales base.

Previous visitors' comments about Dale Cottage:

The property was very quaint and the underfloor heating was very good especially when you have dogs. The area was stunning and I suppose even better in the summer. The local pub served very good food. Lots of places to visit - Ripon, Richmond, Leyburn and Masham.
Mr Potocksi, Sheffield, January 2012

The pub, shop and butchers were within easy reach. The owners of each were very friendly and amenable. We enjoyed the local walks. The locality was very picturesque.
Mrs Bray, Preston, December 2011

Lovely cottage in a central location. Cosy log fire for cold, wet winter days.
Miss Harrison, Tunbridge Wells, December 2011

Dale Cottage was perfect! Everything you could possibly need or want in a compact space. The hidden garden was lovely. I will definitely recommend Dale Cottage, it was right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales so we walked out the door and started our hikes right away. Silence, clean air, beautiful views and the sound of sheep in the background. A truly lovely place to stay!
