Location: West Burton

Leyburn 7 miles; Hawes 10 miles.

Nestling in a hollow of the little-known Walden Valley, West Burton is a jewel not to be overlooked. This pretty and ancient village in the heart of Wensleydale is situated in truly beautiful countryside, with old stone cottages surrounding the famous broad village green. A walker’s paradise, with wonderful Dales countryside, magnificent views and the small, but spectacular Cauldron Falls still delighting visitors since the days when the great artist, J M W Turner, captured its watery magic. The traditional village pub overlooking the green serves good food, there is a well-stocked village shop with cafe and a butcher’s, while there is an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market towns of Hawes and Leyburn. A delightful Dales base.

Previous visitors' comments about Dale Cottage:

Lovely cottage in a lovely village. Pub, shop and butchers nearby, along with miles of walking from the doorstep. All you need for a relaxing break.
Mr Smith, Huntingdon, August 2012

The cottage is in a lovely location and has everything you need for a comfortable break. Village shop has all the basics and more. Village pub serves great food, went a couple of evenings for a meal and on both occasions the food was excellent.
Mrs Stewart, Aberdeen, July 2012

A very cosy and comfortable cottage for the two of us. Very clean and well-equipped. An ideal location in the Dales, and West Burton is a lovely village with an amazing village green and waterfall. The pub, village shop and butchers were all within 100 yards. When obtaining directions the friendly owner offered for the cleaner to come in on our middle Saturday to clean and change the bedding and towels, very useful. Recommended!
Dr Heinink, Upminster, June 2012

The cottage was cosy and warm - particularly with the underfloor heating. It was also dog friendly which allowed us to take our puppy on holiday. The cottage is in a good location and is a good point from which to explore the Dales.
