Location: Middleham

Leyburn 2.5 miles; Richmond 12 miles.

The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London. The horses are a great sight as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty market square is partially cobbled and offers a wide range of shops, pubs and places to eat. The bustling market town of Leyburn is just a short drive away offering a variety of great shops and pubs, or why not take some time to explore The Forbidden Corner, a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers and surprises set amidst 4 acres of grounds, providing a fun day out for all the family? All in all a superb base for exploring Wensleydale and all within easy driving distance of York, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales and Heritage Coast.

Previous visitors' comments about In and Out Cottage:

The location was amazing, very friendly village. Perfect romantic getaway. Pretty setting with roaring log fire, and ideally located to explore the wonders of Yorkshire and all it has to offer. We would highly recommend to friends and family. The variety of eateries and drinking establishments in such a small village was delightful. When it comes to good service and food try out the White Swan and the Bull for the warm welcome.
Mr Ebbrell, Birkenhead, January 2012

Easy access to beautiful scenery with lots of easy walks. Lovely and quiet without being isolated. It was nice also to arrive to a warm cottage.
Mrs Lovell, Gloucester, October 2011

In and Out Cottage is in a quiet location, just the right size for the two of us and well equipped. A good selection of eating/ drinking places in a small town.
Mr Hughes, Wickford, August 2011

The village and location were good for visiting the Yorkshire Dales. The bed was magnificent. The cottage was unusual over 2 floors with 2 doors. Good value.
