  • "We would recommend the Coach House."

Owners, Sarah and Chris, were charming and helpful even providing the odd sausage for the dogs. Lovely property in the centre of the town. Plenty of pubs and walks.

  • "Sarah and Chris were friendly, helpful hosts."

Sarah left a wonderful cake on our arrival. Whenever we saw Chris or Sarah, they always had time for chat and offered helpful advice on local attractions or places to visit; very helpful when you have a dog with you on holiday. We would recommend contacting Chris and Sarah, they have a lot of knowledge to share. The cottage is well equipped, clean and everything you need. Lovely comfortable beds and linens, spacious accommodation in a lovely village setting. Will be recommending to friends.

  • "There were problems originally with our booking."

I had to call the helpline to rectify errors with the booking confirmation - which were made by Sykes - only to then arrive to be told by the owners that they were only expecting four people; when it was originally planned that eight people were going. Poor communication and unprofessional from Sykes. For a website with excellent visual presentation and emphasis on quality customer service, I would have expected better. Still, the holiday was good with very welcoming owners of the property; Chris and Sarah, who followed up our arrival with a lovely homemade chocolate cake. The cottage itself was great. It was spotless when we arrived with a great kitchen in particular. Amazing location too, myself and the lads clocked a 25/35 min walk to Leyburn. The cottage is essentially sectioned off from the street which gave it an exclusive feel. However, despite The Coach House's positives, there were also it's flaws. The Wi-Fi was unpredictable as only certain places around the house gave good signal. We were also looking forward to spending time on the balcony, though our enjoyment was limited as the lights did not work. Overall, we would give The Coach House a 3.5 out of 5. Positives: - Great location in the countryside - Welcoming and easily approachable owners - Lovely set up - Amazing kitchen/ living space - Rooms were also a luxury, particularly the master bedroom with double bed - Added bonuses of a Chocolate cake and small torches which we made use of Negatives: - Poor service on Sykes behalf - Balcony lights need fixing as I could imagine that others would also find this annoying - WiFi connection is tolerable, though a stronger connection would improve future stayers experience

  • "Our hosts Sarah and Chris were brilliant."

Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. The cake Sarah baked for us was nothing less than gorgeous, and the facilities provided were brilliant. This was a wonderful cottage in a wonderful place owned by wonderful people. We hope to return in the near future, we had a great time and so did our little dog Vanilla.

  • "Cottage had everything we needed very spacious ."

We were a party of 4 adults and 3 dogs (for which you gained permission as usually only two dogs allowed). The dogs were very happy as whenever we saw our hosts they were fed sausages which gained them some adoring friends) They didn't forget us though as we were presented a lovely chocolate cake. Would not hesitate to recommend coach house to friends and family and will more than likely revisit ourselves.

  • "A wonderful location for many interesting places to visit right on the door step."

Middleham Castle is by far the best castle ruins I have visited. The coach house itself was comfortable in every way, being very spacious for our party of 6 adults yet homely with a fantastically equipped dining kitchen. The bathroom facilities excellent with all the niceties of a five star hotel. We enjoyed the ambience of sitting out on our balcony with our morning coffee and the hospitality of the owners was next to none. Baking us a delicious cake and making a fuss of our two dogs with sausages every morning was greatly appreciated . Definitely a place to revisit.

About the location

MIDDLEHAM

Leyburn 2.5 miles; Richmond 12 miles.

The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London. The horses are a great sight as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty market square is partially cobbled and offers a range of shops, pubs and places to eat. The bustling market town of Leyburn is just a short drive away offering a variety of great shops and pubs, or why not take some time to explore The Forbidden Corner, a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers and surprises set amidst 4 acres of grounds, providing a fun day out for all the family? All in all a superb base for exploring Wensleydale and all within easy driving distance of York, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales and Heritage Coast.
