The buzzing market town of Skipton, known as the Gateway to the Dales, is just a short drive away from these apartments and offers a wide array of amenities from cafés, delicatessen, gift shops, ancient inns and a wonderful Norman castle, claimed to be one of the most well-preserved medieval castles in England. East Riddlesden Hall is not to be missed during your stay at one of these wonderful apartments, with its beautiful gardens, herb borders and riverside walks along the banks of the River Aire. Serious cyclists may wish to tackle the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway, a 130-mile circular route which starts and ends in Skipton. However, this may require a little more than a leisurely afternoon to complete. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York.
