Location: Burnsall

Grassington 4 miles; Skipton 12 miles.

A delightful village in beautiful Wharfedale, Burnsall is situated on a bend in the River Wharfe and is framed by the dramatic backdrop of Burnsall Fell. The oldest building in the village is thought to be the 12th Century church and the lovely village school is one of the oldest in Britain. Perhaps the most famous feature in the village is the bridge - a traditional Dales bridge with five stone arches. The river meanders through the village and with an extensive village green and magnificent walks in the area, this delightful area makes a superb base for exploring the Dales and all it has to offer. The village itself has a small shop selling sweets/ice-cream and various essential goods, a pub/hotel, and a tea room, whilst nearby Grassington and Skipton offer a fuller range of amenities. Children shouldn’t miss Burnsall’s river 'beach' - just a few minutes walk away and a 'must' on a sunny day!

The village is one of the prettiest I have seen and the position of the cottage is excellent - would recommend.
