Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. Enjoy a canal trip on a traditional barge or visit Embsay Steam Railway, which has regular steam train excursions at the weekend and is only 1 mile away. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!

The Property

A good quality, stone-built, terraced cottage, set in a quiet area of Skipton, yet just a three minute walk to the main high street. This Skipton cottage provides warm and cosy accommodation in a very convenient position close to the one of Britain’s finest examples of a medieval castle. Styled and furnished to a good standard, this cottage in Skipton retains much original character, including a feature window and a lovely courtyard garden. With excellent walking from the doorstep, especially round the castle moat and into the nearby ‘Skipton Woods’, this is a Skipton cottage to be enjoyed whatever the time of year. Skipton, well known as 'The Gateway to the Dales', has a bustling high street, recently named best shopping street in Britain and Ireland. The town offers canal boat trips, a swimming pool, golf course, excellent cycling routes, tennis courts and a myriad of walks including easy rambles and challenging fell walks within close proximity, while Haworth, Bronte Country is just a short drive away. Also close at hand to this Skipton cottage are a wide selection of restaurants, tea rooms and coffee shops, and the traditional market sells fresh produce throughout the year including local cheeses, fish, meats and fresh vegetables. A welcoming Skipton cottage, providing a great base whatever the time of year.

Three bedrooms: 1 x king-size double (zip-link can be twin beds by prior arrangement on request at time of booking), 1 x double, 1 x room with single sofabed. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Kitchen. Sitting room with dining area.

One well behaved pet welcome. Shops and pubs 3 mins walk on the way there - may take a little longer uphill on the way back. Note: Please advise at the time of booking if you'd like the sofabed made up for your arrival.
