The property

The Pheasant Apartment is a superb, newly-appointed, two-bedroom apartment on two floors above an award-winning country inn – the Pheasant at Neenton.

The apartment lies opposite the small church and has village views from both floors.

The large living, dining and kitchen area on the first floor of the inn gives you complete independence.

With comfortable sofas, large-screen TV and a stylish dining area, with local books and games to hand, you can hole up and relax here for as long as you wish.

You can cater for yourselves whenever you feel inclined, but when you don’t, downstairs in the bars and restaurant, the Pheasant serves some of the best food in Shropshire.

The charming and historic pub, lovingly restored by the local community, has a large orchard garden and an outdoor dining terrace, so you’ve got the best of all worlds!

Beneath the eaves, upstairs on the second floor, are two double bedrooms, one with a super-king bed, one with a king, and a shared bathroom with shower.

The apartment is accessed by an external staircase straight from the large car park.

The Pheasant, which has three super-comfortable guest bedrooms as well as the apartment, was voted one the 100 best places to stay in 2023 by The Times and Sunday Times travel writers.

Neenton

Bridgnorth 7 miles; Ludlow 12 miles, Much Wenlock 9 miles.

The village of Neenton, which dates back before the Domesday Book, nestles at the foot of the Brown Clee, the highest point in Shropshire. It’s on the eastern edge of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the blue remembered hills of Housman’s poetry. This is fabulous walking country with spectacular views of old England, the hills criss-crossed by networks of footpaths which stretch out for miles, over to the border with Wales.

From the top of Brown Clee on a clear day you can see Snowdonia, the Peak District, the Cotswold Hills and the Malverns. A stroll up to Five Springs with views deep into Wales across an Iron Age hill fort will take around an hour and a half, just the thing before dinner!

Neenton is handily situated between the quintessential market towns of Bridgnorth and the foodie centre of Ludlow. Both are blessed with an array of great butchers, and top quality food shops and supermarkets. There a village shop just up the road in Cleobury North for the everyday basics.

Neenton is within easy reach of the Ironbridge Gorge, cradle of the Industrial Revolution, a World Heritage Site with enough Museums to keep you enthralled for a week. There are National Trust and English Heritage sites all around you, like Attingham Park near Shrewsbury with some wonderful walks and attractions to keep a family busy all day, and Boscobel House, home of the Royal Oak which once sheltered King Charles II .

The famous Severn Valley Railway heritage line runs between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster, over to the north-east there’s the Royal Air Force Aerospace Museum at Cosford with spectacular exhibits.
