The garden is lovely and safe for dogs (and children if you have them) and I imagine it is a wonderful place to sit with a glass of something on a summers evening although we were unable to sample that, it being October! St Helens itself makes a good base from which to explore the Isle of Wight. We had a superb holiday despite the stormy weather at times and will most definitely be back - we still have walks to complete!

Thank you so much for your kind review, Philippa. It was a pleasure meeting you both and Poppy, of course. I hope your friends enjoyed their few days. We will very much look forward to greeting you again at some point in the future, hopefully in less inclement weather! Property Owner

Garden was great with nice furniture. Unfortunately we came with two cars and parking for our second car was very difficult as there are lots of double yellow lines.

I am sorry about the problem with bringing two cars. I am in the process of purchasing a plot of land for parking one car in the field opposite, so hopefully it might be easier then. I do hope that you had a lovely time otherwise. Property Owner

Lovely lady showed us everything we needed to know. We took our dog. Nice secure garden for him and dog beds .bowls etc. Sun shined in on us every morning with the very large windows down to the floor ..which was lovely. Just a shame it rained later We did quite a bit of cooking .have everything we needed. Big walk in shower downstairs and bathroom upstairs. Cottage is in a nice location not far from ryde town which has a nice town and beach. Parking was ok just a few steps across from cottage. Our dog decided to bite the corner of one of the pillows cases. We told Sally we had ordered a replace duvet set, she was really understanding about this which was nice. Nice little cottage for a small family in a good location for travelling all over the Isle of Wight

Honestly cannot fault it at all. Sally was there to welcome us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the cottage and told us some history of the property. She had even baked us a cake and put a pint of milk in the fridge so we could have a cup of tea whilst we settled in. All bed linen, towels, etc were included. Also little things like hairdryers, soap, and washing up liquid which most places always overlook. The house was lovely and clean and very cosy. The garden is a great size if you have inquisitive dogs and/or children. Very pet-friendly. Dog beds, towels, blankets, water bowls, and treats were all provided which was a nice touch. I managed to break my ankle on the first day of the holiday by falling down a pothole on the causeway. Sally was lovely and offered us aids such as a wheelchair, shower seat, and bath seat in order to make our stay more comfortable. She also gave us some ideas of places to visit which were accessible. I honestly cannot think of a single bad thing to say about the whole week. Even the weather was good for Halloween/Bonfire Night week. Lovely host and lovely accommodation. We ventured out to Appley park which is a must-do for anyone who wants a walk along the coast and also through woodland etc. And also the walk that Sally recommends when you check-in (Just watch out for potholes ;) ). Also busy bees garden centre is right opposite the big Tesco and a must-do. Especially if you visit when their Christmas shop is there. It is a beautiful place to go and visit. We will definitely be coming back next year once we have booked annual leave. Thank you so much!!! <3 x

Also local advice about lure fishing off the rocks past the Bembridge Lifeboat station at low tide, right behind the large hotel i managed a nice plump Bass!!!!!!!!!!! We loved our stay here and will be back as it was our first time on the isle of wight, I think we struck gold and even though we fully explored the whole island we fell in love with Bembridge, from the lovely seafood at both the floating seafood cafe restaurant (no dogs inside but allowed on the deck) in the harbour, and the Baywatch Cafe which was dog friendly inside and out. About the location

ST HELENS

Bembridge 2 miles; Ryde 5 miles.

The village of St Helens lies in a coastal position on high ground, on the eastern side of the Isle of Wight, between Bembridge and Seaview. St Helens is a traditional English village, with the village green at the centre of village life, providing cricket and football pitches, a children’s playground and superb views right across Bembridge Harbour and Culver Down. The village also offers superb restaurants, pub, newsagent, Post Office and grocery store. A short walk takes you to The Duver, an NT area of shingle and sand, and once the site of a Royal links golf course. The beach here is very family friendly, with sand and shingle, perfect for making sandcastles and collecting seashells as well as crabbing off the Bembridge Harbour Causeway. There is the popular Baywatch Café, with all the amenities you need for the perfect day at the beach, and stunning views of the Solent and St Helens Fort. The fort was built to protect Portsmouth from a French invasion between 1867 and 1880, and at the lowest tide of the summer, there is a mass walk of up to 2000 people from the beach out to the fort and back again, with driftwood fires and barbecues.
