LUDLOW

Church Stretton 15 miles; Shrewsbury 28 miles.

The historic market town of Ludlow is situated on the River Teme, amongst the outstanding countryside of the Welsh Marches. With nearly 500 listed buildings, Ludlow's medieval street pattern remains almost intact, and provides a fascinating backdrop for the town's regular street markets, held in the shadow of the castle and showcasing a range of goods; from cheeses and fresh produce to books and local crafts. Ludlow is renowned for its shopping, with a number of antique, art and craft shops, and has more Michelin-starred restaurants than anywhere outside of London, as well as numerous tea-shops, pubs and inns. The castle is over 900 years old, and contains fascinating examples of architecture while below it, the Linney Riverside Park offers boats for hire, a putting green and children's play area. Within easy reach of Church Stretton, Shrewsbury and Hereford, as well as popular attractions such as Ironbridge Gorge, Severn Valley Railway, Berrington Hall and Cardingmill Valley, Ludlow is a superb destination for a relaxing break.

The cottage was delightful. This is the 2nd property we have rented from you and have been very impressed by your company. Your website is very easy to navigate and all the staff in the office very pleasant. We have passed on Sykes cottages details to a number of friends and will most definitely be booking with you again.

We stayed at Emily Place when it first became available in the summer, and couldn't wait to stay again! The cottage is immaculate, and the wonderful wood-burning stove and the chilled Cava in the fridge are the icing on the cake. Ludlow is one of the prettiest places in England, and to have a comfortable, homely place with personality in which to stay makes it all the more pleasant - we'll definitely be back for a third stay!
