The Ticket Office

We had a lovely week in the ticket office.

The spiral staircase was harder to manage than we thought. Put that down to age. Wash basin upstairs was a little on the small size, but we managed. A real nostalgic holiday on the railroad. Just a bit disappointed about no steam trains running due to the dry weather. But some great walks from the station and the weather was fantastic. Easy walk into Whitby. So everything was great. Place was clean and tidy and catered for all your needs. So many thanks for another wonderful week.

Quirky, cosy and well equiped, even tea towels!

Loved the spiral staircase, comfortable bed, efficient and easy to use shower. Good seating downstairs and easy to use cooking facilities and tv. Really enjoyed having breakfast outside each morning and watching the steam train pass through the station only yards from my front door. Also seeing the nesting House Martins swooping and feeding their young. Owners were very helpful offering advice about the walk into Whitby (20 mins), the local butchers ( very good) and of course the pub. I didnt eat there but the food looked and smelt good. Great views of trains coming over the bridge and of the river a nice spot to chill out. Lots to see within easy reach. Nice touch having milk and gorgeous cake in fridge on arrival plus tea and coffee. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable week. I have already recommended it to friends.

It is a very quirky accommodation I'm a unique place.

Small downstairs but with everything you needed for two people and our dog. Upstairs is accessed via a metal spiral staircase and the bed took a little bit getting used too but was fine after the first night. On the railway platform meant we has a clear view of the steam train. Pub opposite was good for food and drink in the beer garden. Excellent location for whitby - walkable- Sandsend and Salburn further afield. Very good value for money.

Despite all the signage, it was impossible not to bang your head particularly when in the bedroom.

One of the dining chairs was unsafe as the back was not connected to the seat properly. Kitchen great and welcome tray lovely. Lovely clean bed linen and towels. Location ideal. Shame about head room!

Very nice property .

Great break I would recommend any time. To the property owner ? You have a broken roof slate in the gutter at the front and a blocked downpipe at the roof valley on the side? Hope you dont mind me telling you? Its a great place to stay thanks very much.

Definitely different

We love the cottage, but found the new mattress was too soft for us and didn’t like the feather duvet felt it was to short for the bed.

( that’s our opinion and you have asked) It has everything you need from kettle to coffee pot. It was lovely and clean, and love the new decor upstairs!! Very peaceful and loved sitting outside for morning breakfast. We love coming here as we can leave the car and walk into Whitby or catch the train. Our little piece of heaven Thank you. Hope to be back soon Oh thank you for the cakes and milk

In general the accommodation is very good.

It had a large living area and everything was very clean. I would say the stairs are a bit of a hazard, if anyone is half asleep or sleep walking they could go flying down them. It just requires a rope or a gate on the top of the stairs. I love the fact that it is on the station platform and the theme and age to the property. It has a great pub opposite, the staff there are so kind and friendly. I personally really enjoyed my time there and hope to be back in Spring.

This is my second time visiting here and my husbands first time.

We loved it and he loved that he could film and get still photos of the steam train, The cottage was lovely and quirky and everything you need. Thank you for the milk and cake on arrival He loved the spiral staircase and the quirkiness of getting into bed. From kettle to coffee machine and oven to microwave fridge to dishwasher plenty of pots and pans thank you hopefully we will be back again !! The only thing we had a problem is the maple trees sap all over the car, as we didn’t use the car for a week, so one very sticky car !!!

Unique, Qwerky, Satisfied all our expectations.

Simply Splendid.

Although we enjoyed our stay.

We did find the bedroom not so comfortable. We are in our 70s and clambouring in and out of bed was not easy. The shower cubicle a little on the small side and we are not big people.

Such a sweet little holiday let.

The owners have taken great care in making it a pretty place to stay & in keeping. With us stopping 8 days we did find it hard not having a washing machine but managed. On arrival we struggled to find the parking space as the pink gravel is mainly grass. So did the new arrivals for next door. This area just needs weeding & more gravel.

Cute cottage ,very comfortable ,clean well equipment The spiral staircase is beautiful ( but not good for all people mobility wise) , location is excellent especially if you love the Trains , 20 min walk to Whitby along the river esk , good pub /food across the road .

We had a fab stay .

We stayed for a week last year and loved the property and location so much we booked 2 weeks for this year and had a great time and it was our dog Archies 1st holiday and he enjoyed it too and we highly recommend this property as right next to cinder path with nice walks and lovely friendly pub right opposite

This was my third year in The Ticket Office and another stay is likely next year.

A delightful tourist town, beaches, coast path, valley walk, heritage railway, a fantastic butcher/deli and a good pub are most of what I want from a holiday. A fit walker can access everything with minimal use of a car, with train travel as close as it could possibly be. The property is ideal for a single visitor, some aspects must be a bit tight for two. When the weather is sunny a little more ventilation would be useful, also somewhere to sit and relax outdoors.

Great Location with pub over the road and the footpath next to railway line taking you into Whitby.

The only thing is its far too cramped upstairs and because of this I wouldn't come back. That's the only thing that let's it down for me.

A lovely cottage in an excellent location.

It is small but has everything you need for a week's holiday. The spiral staircase and the bed in the eaves were very unusual and I doubt I'll come across either feature again, except when we return there which I have no doubt we will. The place was spotlessly clean and everything was of very good quality. There is excellent parking for the accommodation and a brilliant pub across the road. We went there for a drink on our first night and met some locals then returned for a lovely Sunday roast lunch. We went there again for my birthday meal and joined in a good quiz on the Thursday night. We drove 15 minutes to Goathland for our anniversary dinner which was gorgeous and visited Scarborough but most days we ignored the car and walked into Whitby which is an interesting town although unfortunately a lot of places were closed until March. The public footpath runs between the railway line and the river and is an easy, flat and safe mile and a half amble. Some days there were a lot of puddles but nothing drastic. We had my husband's birthday lunch at the Magpie Café in Whitby which was excellent.

Loved it!

Only used car one day. Walk to Whitby very easy along track. Even carried on and walked to Robins Hood bay on coastal path. Beautiful walk. Got train to Grosmont and walked back. Another inland but beautiful walk. Yes it's small and there is a little road noise but it didn't take away from enjoyment. Would recommend.

We stayed here last January so knew what the Ticket Office had to offer.

Great place for 2 people to stay. Great kitchen facilities very well equipped. Just a short walk from Whitby and an even shorter walk to the Bridge pub over the road. A lovely place to stay. See you again next year.

Our second stay at The Ticket Office.

Its a wonderful cozy, well equipped property that is so different and quirky that it just makes you smile to think about your stays there. Really enjoyable stay. Easy walks straight from the front door into Whitby, and a good train service, from the front door to villages on the North Yorks Moors. A great spot for a memorable holiday.

Everything you could need for a stay, lovely welcoming touch was a tea tray set up along with 2 slices of home made cake and a pint of milk in the fridge, spotlessly clean, good location for accessing Whitby by foot (just a walk along the railway trac beside the river and nice and flat ) the pub across the road offered a lovely welcome and the food was excellent too Cant wait to book again and recommending to all my friends

The Ticket Office is a wonderful place to stay.

It has everything you need and was incredibly comfortable. A week before we arrived, I received a welcoming email from the owners which was a lovely personal touch. There is a beautiful walk into Whitby along the railway line which takes you past the river Esk and under the viaduct, and a great walk leading through fields and woods on to the cinder track. The Bridge Inn is welcoming and the food great. We had a smashing week here and I admit I was a bit emotional to leave. I must add, we have never met nicer people than we did in Yorkshire and we cannot wait to come back again.

As good as before, if not even better especially with The Bridge Inn open this time, and also fantastic weather.

Very nice quirky cottage good location easy to walk to Whitby.

This is an amazing property, really well laid out and unique in a lovely location the property has everything you need, with really nice friendly pub opposite that serves great food and a butchers shop which is really good and we have rebooked for 2 weeks here next June and can't wait to come back

Property was great and exactly as advertised.

Clearly space is limited especially upstairs but we knew that when booking and it didn’t detract from us enjoying our stay.

The uniqueness of the cottage is what made this holiday so enjoyable.

We We would certainly return to the cottage again. Sat eating meals at the dining tables whilst steam trains went past was delightful.

We adored the Ticket Office.

It was a dream come true, and utterly quirky and delightful in every way. The gas fire and all the decor was so in keeping with the period character, and seeing the trains pass by truly was the icing on the cake. Everything had been thought of for a comfortable stay, and the cottage was immaculate. The location is perfect for exploring the area. Looking forward to staying there again.

Beautiful cottage .

Fabulous location! Fantastic pub The Bridge across road !! Definitely can highly recommend The Old Ticket office cottage. In addition the quality of bedding was exceptional!! Wonderful nights sleep !!

Great location, lovely village, and comfortable and unique property.

Just a little difficulty with the bed.

Worth making it clear that it's.not an easily accessible.bed for 2.

A lovely unusual property, dog friendly, well maintained and spotlessly clean.

Easily accessible to all local amenities with great pub across road. In walking distance to Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough. I would recommend it as a great place to stay and a place I will definitely return to.

Lovely property with everything you need in a limited space.

Well thought out interior to make the most of the space. Loved the trains going by and the walk into Whitby from the cottage. Quirky and fun, loved it.

We had a great stay.

Loved this sweet ticket office. It is a great base to explore the surrounding area. It was clean and had all the the things we needed! We loved it and reccomend it!!

The TICKET OFFICE was a lovely place to stay, quirky, clean and comfortable.

Perfect for a couple.

Very tasteful and thoughtfully designed. Fabulous to see the steam trains .

Loved the unique accommodation which was very cosy.

Enjoyed seeing and hearing the trains and the walks around the village and into Whitby. Hospitality tray with cake and also milk in the fridge was much appreciated. Would highly recommend as long as you can manage a spiral staircase

We enjoyed our stay in the Ticket office .

the only downside was the small sink in the bathroom .we are in our mid 70`s and found the spiral staircase easy to get up and down. It was handy to catch the train into whitby, grosmont. the bridge inn across the road is certainly recommended food was lovely and friendly a place well worth a visit.

No Internet for most of the week it worked for the 1st day Saturday then went offline until Thursday, didn't realise it was on the main line and the steam trains didn't stop there, we had a homeless person sleeping all day and night outside of the back door

A very enjoyable week - ideal location if you like trains!

Easy to walk into Whitby to catch a steam train and then walk between stations or directly back to the Ticket Office. We didn't use our car for the whole week. Great pub just over the road - very friendly and reasonable food. The Ticket Office downstairs is ok as a combined kitchen, sitting and dining room, but upstairs is bijoux to say the least! Reminded us of the cramped bed, shower and toilet arrangements of a camper van. Some room for improvement possible - e.g. a larger sink could be fitted to the toilet room - but adequate for regular sized and fit people. It could also do with a private outdoor area - at the moment only the station platform is available. The garden by the parking area could be reserved for sole use by Ticket Office visitors, with a fence added to the wall to give a 2 m high screen.

Lovely property in a lovely location.

Only issue was the steepness of the spiral staircase, some people would struggle. Other than it was great.

Heating on all night could not sleep heat upstairs was terrible clock chimes all night and fridge.

It was clean and tidy . Apart from that holiday was great pub across from cottage was great food was great walk from cottage to Whitby 25mins trains good to see

A lovely quirky cottage, and wonderful if you love trains, opposite a very nice pub, we would certainly stay again.

A fantastic, cozy and quirky cottage that was perfect for a relaxing holiday.

It is so compact but has everything that's needed. Its great to be able to walk straight from the front door to Whitby and even Robin Hoods Bay on a longer trek. The trains going past are a bonus. Really enjoyed our stay and it will go on the list of places to revisit.

Second time to the ticket office would definitely recommend can't wait to go back

We had the best few days away in The Ticket Office, so much so we have booked for next year before we left.

Very pretty and quaint, filled with everything you need. Very warm and cosy. If you have mobility issues wouldn't recommend as the spiral staircase may be difficult to climb. Normally you come away and look forward to your own bed, this time the best was so comfy and the sheets were so soft. The perfect little get away thats dog friendly and in the best place to walk in to whitby within 20 minutes.

Very cosy and well kept, would highly recommend.

Only 20 minutes walk into Whitby and a cosy pub just over the road. Trains aren’t regular so not much noise to worry about but if you live trains then this is a must. Internet is slow so not advised for work (if you get caught out and need to) and the shower isn’t the best but very warm but these points are minor. This place is lovely and the owners were great.

Just to mention not much handing space for clothes.

Could do with hooks to hang wet coats. Just small things to make it even better

We absolutely loved everything think about the ticket office it was a easy 30 minute steady walk into Whitby there's a lovely pub straight over the road serving delicious home made food and the local butcher is a 5 minute walk and they are definitely worth a visit.

I would like to thank the owners for all the little extras and taking time to decorate the ticket office it truly was very festive in fact loved it so much we have already booked again for next Christmas

We had a very pleasant stay at this property.

We arrived during a very old snap and the rental was a perfect temperature for us. Our hostess was one of the best we’ve ever communicated with; reactive and friendly, for which we remain very grateful. We loved the occasional trains passing by our windows, the walks from the doorstep including the rail side pathway to Whitby town centre.

Property compact comfortable and in a good position.

Only thing didn't like was the spiral staircase which was awkward to get up and down

We absolutely loved our stay at the The Old Ticket, Ruswarp.

It was very quirky, but exceptional, everything worked and all instructions were provided suitably. The location was perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Coast and moors with everything in a easily commutable distance. We'll certainly be rebooking again in the future. Thoroughly Recommended and 5 Stars!!

Hi booked for the novelty of stepping out the door onto the platform and catching a train and the train rides were good but the place is not comfortable and sleeping for two adults having to sleep climbing over each other just doesn't work at all

Had trouble with wi fi but it seems to be a problem in the whole of the village other wise everything was great.

2nd time I have stayed enjoyed it on both occasions.

nice little property clean and comfortable.

we found the stairs and bed a little problematic due to mobility issues and think this should be made more clear in the property description

Could not fault the place, really excellent and ideally placed for me dog the only drawback was that the pub across the road was shut due to having a bit of a tidy up nothing to do with Sykes or the Ticket Office.

.

The Ticket Office is a lovely property in a ideal location.

It is one mile walk from Whitby but ideal places in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby itself which is very busy. The Ticket Office is on a working train station with trains stopping regularly at the front door. Steam and Diesel engines also pass the front door which all adds to the experience. The property has all the equipment needed for a pleasant stay, small but comfortable. Be aware that the Ticket Office has no garden and therefore if you take your dog ( which is allowed) there is nowhere to let it out, as you are directly on the platform as you open the front door. I had a really lovely stay and would visit again.

We had a great stay, the accommodation was just right for a base and had everything we needed and more.

We appreciated and enjoyed the welcome pack of tea coffee milk and cake! A great location for exploration and would stay again. Shame the local pub was closed (not owners fault) and the only real niggle we had was the clock chiming throughout the night and we found the road noise very loud.

We enjoyed our stay in this quirky property.

It had good facilities and was ideally placed for visiting the Whitby area. Our stay coincided with the heatwave in July. We were very grateful for the fans provided which kept the temperature inside the property bearable. The tea tray and milk were very welcome. Thank you. We used the train to go to Whitby one day and also walked along the lovely footpath to Whitby which was just across the railway track from the property. Very handy. We walked the Goathland to Grosmont rail trail one day which was a lovely walk of about 3 miles. We enjoyed seeing the trains go through Ruswarp station but unfortunately the North York Moors Railway were not operating any steam engines due to the extreme heat. This was a bit disappointing as my husband is a keen photographer and was hoping to take some close up photos. We were a bit surprised at the volume of road traffic through such a small village. We wondered whether motorists are using Ruswarp as a detour to avoid going through Whitby somehow?

The cottage was certainly quirky and maybe cosy in winter but for me personally with a small dog it was too cramped, dark and claustrophobic.

It was clean and well presented inside but the entrance was so dirty with dust and accumulation of leaves I had to find a brush and clean it myself. First impressions are important. I really used it just as a base to sleep, disappointing that no access to outside area to sit in despite there being an unused lawned area next to the parking lot, but not allocated to the Ticket office. It is the only self catering place I have stayed in where there was not a welcome pack, at the very minimum 1 pint of milk would have been appreciated after a long journey. Just a few minor changes would have made my 3 day stay more enjoyable.,

The cottage was in a perfect location for our needs.

Lovely walks by the river and rail. Upstairs a bit challenging but we knew that before we went. The owner has provided quality equipment throughout and instruction folder on how to use them a big +. Enjoyed theTrains going by. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

The property was Quirky and the spiral staircase proved a little difficult for us we are quite active but in our mid seventies.

The bedroom turned out to be quite claustrophobic difficult to access and egress the bed mattress Lack of power point accessibility in the bedroom. Location great

My husband and I had a lovely stay in this beautiful property.

The owner has made this property comfortable and welcoming everything is there for you and the welcome pack was a lovely surprise after our journey. Great for a walk into Whitby and back. The butcher's in the village is a must and enjoyed meal in the pub opposite. Great week ago thank you.

I throughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it.

The kitchen was clean and stocked with everything I needed. Listening to the trains passing was a unique experience. The cakes on arrival was a lovely touch and set the seal on a super holiday. Warm and cozy and good location for lots of nice walks.

Fantastic location, lovely 20 min walk into whitby WiFi and signal not so good for entertainment music and films but hey how didn't ruin things.

The Ticket Office was a lovely cottage for 2, lots of quirky railway touches and well equipped for a week's stay.

Great location for exploring moors and coast.

Walking distance into Whitby. The ticket office was snug and warm, and had everything one could need.

Although we were aware it was a small place the layout was challenging and my husband cut his forehead open on the wrought iron staircase which was inconviently placed in the centre of the room.

The bed area was claustrophobic and I slept on the settee instead. The loud chiming of the station clock every hour was disturbing and our dog was very frightened by the sound of the trains (not the fault of the property but a warning to other dog owners). Lovely location, surrounded by great walks.

The property was fantastic.

Spotlessly clean, very well equipped, great location and the owner had clearly gone to great lengths to ensure that visitors had everything they needed to have a great holiday.

Completely charming!

This was truly a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. You must bear in mind all the quirks and be prepared to love and accept them as part of the experience, which we did. There isn’t much room upstairs and the spiral means those who aren’t quite so spritely may struggle. That said, it was perfect for us. This has everything you need as a base to explore Yorkshire and there was nothing that hadn’t been thought of. A truly wonderful break in a charming village with steam trains on your doorstep, easy walk down the track to Whitby, fabulous local Butcher, boating and riverside cafe. Pub was difficult to book probably due to football which is fair enough, didn’t manage to eat there but we lost a wallet within an hour of arriving and a lovely local handed it in to the Bridge Inn, we felt safe and like we were among a close and caring community. If your a birdwatcher then a walk early morning will bring you Linnets, Reed Bunting, Red Legged Partridge, Whitethroats and plenty of Sparrows, Wrens and Blackbirds singing. The shadows of highland cows across the fields as the morning fog lifts and the glisten of dew on spiders webs is magical.

Lovely little place in a really nice location

You need to be a hobbit to stay here if you didn’t you didn’t band your head on stairs getting up from table you bang it getting out of bed, then the back of your shins coming down the spiral stairs in the middle of room of all places to put a staircase, there’s no wardrobe to hand cloths just a coat stand on very small landing no washing machine no microwave no wi fi we couldn’t get a phone signal so no contact with family

we feel that this property is not suitable for people who are less mobile because of the stairs and the difficulty in getting in and out of bed i would suggest people who are light sleepers take a pair of ear plugs to drown out the sound of the station clock chimes every hour

Everything was great apart from the pub opposite being shut, so no takeaways and the spiral staircase in the cottage which I found a bit daunting.

Lovely cosy bolthole.

Easy walking distance to the coast. Clean, super comfy bed. Lovely hosts. I'd definitely book again. Thanks everyone x

We really enjoyed The Ticket Office, clean comfy and nice little touches, wonderful walk along the estuary and railway line into Whitby about 20/25 mins, Ruswarp is a lovely village too, parking facilities was a large bonus, even though we are older we managed the quirky stairs, pillows were like marshmallows

A lovely, cosy and unique cottage, it was a delightful place to spend a few days, all our needs were catered for including a day of warm sunshine!

The owner was approachable and very helpful.

My husband loved the quirky nature of the cottage and its location, right on the railway platform.

We had a lovely two night break away in a quirky lovely cottage.

The accommodation was comfortable & cosy with everything needed for an enjoyable stay.

Being able to walk into Whitby so quickly & easily was a real bonus as was the smart tv. Only being able to access the bed from one side might be a problem for some but as I was alone it didn’t matter.

One of our best holidays to date thanks

I really enjoyed the quirkiness of this ‘bijou’ cottage.

I’m still smiling at it’s peculiarities. The staircase running up from the centre of the room seemed its largest feature! Ruswarp is a great place to escape from Whitby’s hubbub and yet it is so close as to be very convenient. My dog and I enjoyed walking into Whitby along the railway line, we’ll adjacent to the line really. The accommodation was extremely clean and well supplied. Only one little niggle - the bathroom washbasin was extremely tiny! Water everywhere when face washing! The arrangement for key collection went very smoothly. The appearance of the steam train was an added bonus. I shall probably try to stay here again.

Lovely little cottage in an ideal place .

we loved seeing the steam train go past and would definitely stay here again

Great accommodation everything you want from a holiday cottage

The ticket office was lovely better than we expected will definetly book again

We arrived early evening and had difficulty locating the parking space.

Although it has a sign, you can't see this in the dark and access was blocked by occupants of the Station House. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a recurring theme. Unfortunately, my partner found the bed far too soft so we probably wouldn't return, but don't let that put you off. It's a great location for both Whitby and exploring the moors.

The property is certainly quirky and very unusual; not often we get the chance to stay in a property with steam trains passing your front door.

Considering its an old building with single glazing it was cosy and warm. Just a reminder that there is a spiral staircase (which we personally loved) and cabin bed, definitely not for those who are less than moderately agile. In December 19 the National Rail train service is being improved with an early morning and late evening service, it wasn't an issue with us, but being adjacent to a level crossing the train's whistle is sounded upon arrival and departure. The road through the village can be busy, mostly with farm traffic. There is an excellent walk via footpath following the railway into Whitby, taking around 30 minutes. The butchers in Ruswarp is well worth visiting. Parking is shared with the main station house, which requires cooperation if the Station House guests have more than one car. We enjoyed our stay here.

Very bijou as expected but very well appointed with much thought given to our comfort and needs.

A little more attention should be paid to the visitors book where visitors constantly have complained about a seriously leaking kitchen tap which if left unattended will drip water over the counter and on to the floor. We live in a quiet neighbourhood and found the traffic noise intrusive but managed to get used to it,Much enjoyment from the steam trains. Enjoyed our week.

The Ticket Office is an ideal place for two if you like somewhere quirky and like trains .

We had a great week the place is clean well equipped ideally situated for walking into Whitby, great pub across the road with a friendly welcome with good food but would advise booking as it gets busy. The welcome pack of biscuits tea and milk was most welcome at the end of our journey. There is slight traffic noise but it didn't spoil our stay. Would really recommend this property

Quirky but great cottage and location lovely short and level 25 min walk into Whitby

A charming little cottage right in the station platform.

It was lovely seeing the steam trains. The cottage was furnished to a good standard and we couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the property. The owner left us milk in the fridge and a welcome packet of local biscuits. The cottage was fully supplied with things like soap, dishwashing liquid, tea towels that we didn’t need to use our own. Although warned about the restricted height to the bed in the listing, it didn’t stop us enjoying a good nights sleep every evening, once you’re in the bed enclosure it wasn’t claustrophobic at all (full ceiling height), but there was only one side of the bed to get in and out of which I didn’t envisage but it wasn’t a problem. The cottage was only a 20 minute walk to Whitby and we hardly used the car at all. One of the days we walked to Robin Hoods Bay from the cottage which was only 7 miles. We’d have walked back if the weather was cooler and the dog not so hot but we caught the bus back to Whitby instead. In summary a real gem of a cottage, in a great location and we’re so glad we stayed there

Was a lovely cottage great location .

Ticket office is small but very well equipped with everything you need for your stay the bedroom is very small, can only access bed one side and in the eaves, We managed, and bed very comfortable but not for everyone.

We enjoyed our stay found downstairs very cosy and warm, kitchen well equipped and very clean , we did have problem with kitchen taps had to turn taps off tight as taps didn't reach sink. we enjoyed our weeks stay and had good weather loved seeing trains

Hi we loved this cottage , the cottage was very clean and the setting was wonderful , however we had a problem with the upstairs, the bed is set into the eves of the building and accessed by the space of a door opening.

The toilet and shower are also set into the eves of the building and moving around upstairs was very limited. There is no wardrobe just a hallway hatstand to hang your clothes. The bed was a problem to us , maybe others can cope with it but we couldn't. Unfortunately after three nights we left. Having said that if you are of small build and agile and don't suffer from claustrophobia you will be ok. The owners had left a complimentary tray of biscuits , tea and coffee etc which was very nice and place was very clean , but unfortunately wasn't for us.

the location was amazing and the property was spotless, would recommend this property , 5 star rating from me

We loved the quirkiness of the ticket office.

The facilities were superb with every provided. The welcome tray was lovely with biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar and a pint of milk not little sachets. The walk to Whitby was also lovely and the butcher's in the village did lovely breakfast cobs.We cannot fault the ticket office in any way and look forward to booking again in the future hopefully during the summer season when steam train is running.

Sadly whilst the location was perfect the cottage was disappointing I expected small & cozy but found the bed exceptionally tight and the bed linen smelt fusty the towels were small and old not luxury comfort.

The shower was barely big enough to wash in & the electric power very poor. The cottage was clean and well equipped Outside we had difficulties parking the space taken by a group in the adjoining Station House.

How fantastic it was to be on the railway platform,we were so thrilled, ideally placed in Ruswarp, thanks

Really well equipped little cottage.

Lovely little touch with the milk and biscuits on arrival. So handy for the train into Whitby. Just a few spiders in the kitchen cupboards could do with a deep clean. Will definitely be using again though. Thanks

when we looked there were no pictures of the bedroom so from the description we thought it was the bed with one side by a wall nothing was aid about having to cfrawl through what is like a hole in the wall to get in and out off bed althought the holiday we had was great it was the going out and about not the accommodation the TV only works through freesat there is no tv aireal so no freeview channels available the freesat remote control is vaigue and most of the buttons on the remotes for TV and freesat do not work I think a good acritecht could sort out the up stairs configuration update the freesat and get a tv aireal for the tv maybe a bigger TV would also be helpful although it sounds negative it was a good stay but the pub across the road does not serve food it say's that it does in the booklet but they do not (miss leading) so in short if the upstairs could be reconfigured you would have it cracked along with more sound proofing and you would have the perfect place to stay as for the trains passing through the staion only 3 steam and one vintage diesel daily the rest are modern trains operated by northen rail marks out of ten we would give it 8/10 sort sound proofing, the bedroom and TV issues it would become 10/10

The ticket office car park bay was taken by the residents of station house when we arrived.

There were 4 cars in all. we had to asked them to move cars so we could get in. They told us a lady? said they could park there. therefore we landed up parked close to the station house front door. Not impressed.

The cottage is quirky but it has got all mod cons.

The place is very quiet so we had a very relaxing week which was what we wanted. Whitby is just a 5-minute train journey away but the footpath takes you there in about 20 minutes. If you are a train aficionado the steam trains will make your stay worthwhile. Goth weekend was an extra bonus! We'll definitely stay there again. Pity it's fully booked until the beginning of November...

This was our second visit to the Ticket Office.

It's great for anyone interested in trains - heritage or mainline! We actually used the train to travel this time and, of course, got off where the Ticket Office is situated on the platform. Great location! The walks into Whitby and back, along the path at the side of the railway, were very pleasant and easy being all on the level. Excellent accommodation for two people.

We have been here before and love the cottage.

It is a bit quirky but that’s why we like it. It’s front door is on the platform. There are regular trains passing and steam trains from Easter. Once you’ve mastered the stairs you get used to the restrictions upstairs. Well equipped with everything you need and use of the front garden at the station house if required. Our dog loved the walks all in easy reach and Jackson’s the butchers do great bacon/sausage sandwiche’s and pies etc. Will be going back again soon

Bedroom was very difficult for a six foot three person to get into, I know it said it was restricted but there was no pictures of the upstairs.

On day two we reprted the DVD player was broken at around 11 am, by the time we got back at 4 it had been replaced and supplemented with two more dvd's.

So really on the ball!

location was excellent.

use of bus/Train or a 25 mins walk to whitby.local pub was warm and friendly

Very small point, car parking issues with next door when I arrived, they had 4 cars, so I could not park up on my designated area, just made it hard work unloading the car.

Our cottage was so cosy on what turned out to be a weekend of appalling weather.

The location was fantastic and the bed comfy, we can`t wait to return.
