LEVISHAM Pickering 6 miles; Whitby 17 miles; York 32 miles. The tiny, picturesque village of Levisham sits high on the Yorkshire Moors, to the north of Pickering. The village is made up of a cluster of farms, attractive neat stone cottages with pretty gardens, and a village green. There is a pub and church in the village, with a shop at nearby Lockton (1 mile). Levisham Beck, which rises in the nearby Hole of Horcum (where the devil is said to have fallen to earth) flows along a steep wooded valley near the village, and at its foot there is a watermill and small waterfall. The area is a maze of tracks and footpaths with some stunning scenery. The nearby Levisham station (in Newtondale) is a stopping point on the North York Moors Steam Railway, beyond which lies Cropton Forest. The area is conveniently located for visiting castles, and historic houses, touring moorland villages and exploring the many fishing communities along the coast, including popular Whitby. The Property: Harvest Cottage A very pretty stone and pantiled semi-detached cottage, created from the conversion of a former granary building, and set in the heart of the picturesque village of Levisham. Converted to a high standard and with a cosy and welcoming feel, this lovely, well laid out cottage offers superb open plan accommodation, and is tastefully decorated and furnished, with shared use of a lovely large walled garden. This is an ideal base for exploring the coast and North York Moors, as well as the maze of footpaths in the surrounding hills and valleys. Accommodation One large double bedroom with sloping ceiling. Bathroom with shower, WC & basin. Comfortable, open plan living accommodation with fitted kitchen area, dining area and light sitting area with views over garden.
Amenities Heating from electric storage heaters. Electric oven & hob, microwave, fridge, colour TV, stereo/CD player etc. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent, towels available for hire at £4.50 per person. Cot & highchair available on request. Ample off-road parking. Attractive shared walled garden with furniture and BBQ. Up to 2 well behaved dogs welcome (£15 per dog per week). Pub 2 mins, village shop 1 mile, shops & amenities of Pickering 6 miles. |
