Berwick is England's most northerly town and changed hands 14 times whilst the English and the Scots fought for control of the Borders! Nowadays this small coastal town retains much of its charm, with quaint narrow streets enclosed within great Elizabethan walls - walks along these offer spectacular views over the coast and river estuary. The town offers excellent amenities including shops/supermarkets, restaurants and pubs, whilst the Maltings Arts Centre provides an extensive programme of cultural events including music, theatre and cinema. Fishing, golf and riding are all available locally and there is a leisure centre in the town offering a pool with waves and flume. Two miles away is the seaside resort of Spittal, with its sandy beaches. Berwick has excellent public transport and there is a frequent train service to both Newcastle and Edinburgh.

The Property: Mill House Apartment

Berwick-upon-Tweed 7 miles. An impressive three storey apartment, situated on the banks of Whiteadder Water, a major tributary of the internationally renowned Tweed salmon river. Recently converted and furnished to a very high standard, the property offers spacious and comfortable accommodation, including two en-suite bathrooms, two sitting areas and a balcony overlooking the river. Guests have communal use of the meadow, which runs along the banks of Whiteadder Water. A wonderful balance between the traditional and the modern, the Mill House Apartment makes a fabulous base from which to tour North Northumberland, the Scottish Borders and the Heritage Coast.

Accommodation

Four bedrooms: 1 x second floor double with ensuite (bath, shower over, basin & WC), 1 x third floor double, 2 x third floor twin (one ensuite with bath, shower over, basin & WC). Third floor house bathroom with bath (shower over), basin & WC. Spacious first floor open plan living area with kitchen, with dining area and sitting area, and patio doors leading on to balcony with furniture. Second cosy sitting room.

Amenities

Full gas central heating throughout. Electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, 2 x colour TVs (one with SKY), DVD player, radio, stereo/CD player etc. Washing machine and tumble dryer in utility room. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Highchair available on request. Off-road parking for up to 4 cars. Communal use of meadow by river, BBQ available on request. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shops and pubs 2 miles.

Very good property. All new fixtures and fittings, exceptional kitchen with every appliance, all new property even down to the towels! Loved the rural location, an ideal relaxing holliday. Made to feel welcome by the owners on arival, and then left to get on with things ourselves, (just as we like it).
