Ref: 1298 Corner Cottage
STOW ON THE WOLD Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles. At 800 feet, Stow is the highest town in the Cotswolds. Its Royal Charter was granted in 1107 and it has been an important Cotswold crossroads for a thousand years, with 8 roads intersecting here! Like so many Cotswold towns, it owes its original prosperity to wool. The twice yearly Stow Fair is still held in May and October and the annual Stow Horse Fair is a spectacularly large event, when the town sees numerous horses being bought and sold. The traditional stone Cotswold square, pubs and tearooms, antiques shops and hotels jostle for space, and running off the square are various narrow alleys and courts that contain charming unspoiled old buildings. The Property: Corner Cottage A traditional detached Cotswold Stone cottage tucked away in a private mews, just 5 mins walk from the centre of the pretty town of Stow on the Wold, with its host of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and antique shops. The cottage is decorated and furnished in a comfortable, contemporary style. The attractive kitchen has free standing New England-style units, while the bedrooms boast sloping ceilings, one with a Victorian style iron bed. This all-year-round location is perfect for cycling, walking and touring the beautiful Cotswolds, or enjoying the area's famous attractions, National Trust properties and wonderful towns, such as Stratford-upon-Avon. Accommodation Two bedrooms: 1 x double with ensuite shower cubicle, 1 x double with sloping ceiling (access to bed only from one side). Bathroom with bath, basin and WC. Oct 2007 | Stow on the Wold is a wonderful place for a "Chill Out" holiday. The locals are very friendly and there are many beautiful places to see which are only a short drive away, Bourton on the Water, Lower Slaughter, Broadway, Prinknash Abbey grounds, Bird Land, Hidcote and Snowshill to name a few. We will certainly return on another occasion. There is no shortage of good places to eat at reasonable prices in Stow and the surrounding area.

The cottage had everything we needed to have a couple of relaxing days and the location was excellent for getting to and from other areas in the Cotswolds. The landscape and views in general were stunning and we will definitely return to the area.
