BRAITHWAITE Keswick 3 miles. Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Bassenthwaite Lake itself is one of the most picturesque places in England. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Lake with an open-air theatre is well worth a visit, along with Trotters Farm and Dodd Wood. Derwentwater and Keswick with its wide range of attractions is also within easy reach.
