BRAITHWAITE

Keswick 3 miles.

Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Bassenthwaite Lake itself is one of the most picturesque places in England. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Lake with an open-air theatre is well worth a visit, along with Trotters Farm and Dodd Wood. Derwentwater and Keswick with its wide range of attractions is also within easy reach.

The Property: Stoney Gill A

A first floor apartment in the delightful renovated wing of the former Stoneycroft Hotel, situated in the Newlands Valley just 1 mile from Braithwaite. Furnished and decorated to a high standard, this is the perfect base to return to at the end of the day, where you can relax on the balcony and take in the stunning views. Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Catbells are all within easy reach, or why not enjoy one of the walks straight from the back door (such as Newlands Round or Coledale Round)? Alternatively, Keswick is only 3 miles away. A great location for walking, touring or simply getting away from it all. We have been going to the Lakes for years as it is our favourite place in England. The views from the property were superb. We did lots of walking and climbed Skiddaw and Cat Bells. We were very fortunate with the weather also.

Location was brilliant. The views from the balcony were fantastic. The Newlands Valley must be one of the most beautiful areas in the whole of the Lake District. Excellent walking opportunities from the door.

We absolutely loved the location of the property, about 5 miles from Keswick with all the amenities and you have fantastic walking routes right at your doorstep. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay and would love to come back. The glorious weather definitely helped as well.
