WOODYATES

Salisbury 10 miles; Blandford Forum 12 miles.

A scattered hamlet on the borders of Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, sitting between the splendid cathedral city of Salisbury and the Georgian town of Blandford Forum, each approximately 10 miles away. The surrounding area, known as Cranborne Chase, is one of outstanding natural beauty, and an area steeped in history, being famous for it's neolithic 'Dorset Cursus', a fourth century dyke, numerous tumuli, long barrows and a roman road. Cranborne Chase provides visitors with wonderful walks through open rolling countryside and neat little villages, whilst Thomas Hardy based his 'Trantridge', in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, on the nearby parish of Pentridge. A short drive through glorious countryside takes you to Salisbury, one of the most beautiful cathedral cities in the country, or why not visit nearby Wilton House, or Stonehenge. With the stunning Dorset heritage coast also within easy reach, this area makes a great year round touring base.

The Property: Lynwood Cottage

Seasonal use of the owner's open air heated swimming pool and tennis court is available by arrangement, whilst the surrounding area boasts delightful walking country with both nearby Cranborne Chase and the Dorset coastline to explore. Previous Visitors' Comments
The cottage was exactly as described and in a secluded location, so it was peaceful and the garden was full of wildlife. There was plenty of opportunity for walking from the cottage. Having 2 boys aged 13 and 14 we were able to make full use of the owners' facilities - the swimming pool, tennis courts and trampolene, which enabled us to cut down on travel and expenditure. Having said that, we also visited the coast, Salisbury and Blandford Forum which are all within easy reach. Definitely somewhere we will go back to.

We stay in a lot of cottages as we have dogs. First time with Sykes - this cottage is one of the best we've rented. Great garden for dogs and lovely location.
