An attractive, single street village surrounded by beautiful countryside and overlooked by the wonderful Aran Mountains, in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park. There are four pubs close by and the Meirion Woollen Mill stands on the banks of the River Dovey and is open to visitors. The delightful town of Dolgellau which nestles beside the foothills of one of Wales' most spectacular mountains, Cader Idris, is only 10 miles away and its 17th Century bridges, church and variety of pubs and eating houses create a pleasant atmosphere. This whole area is a paradise for walkers, climbers, birdwatchers and bikers amidst all of Snowdonia and the nearby Coed-y-Brenin Forest with its famous mountain bike trails. Discover the Mawddach Estuary, stunning sandy beaches, narrow gauge steam railways, golf, and a huge range of outdoor pursuits. A superb base for both coast and mountains all year round.

The Property: Dafarn Newydd

A cosy, semi detached cottage, originally part of a 17th century coaching inn, nestling between wooded hills and mountains on the edge of the village of Dinas Mawddwy, in the Dovey Valley of Snowdonia. Offering simple, comfortable accommodation, the cottage features a wealth of exposed beams and an impressive inglenook fireplace with woodburner, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. There is much for climbers, walkers, bikers and birdwatchers alike. Nearby Dolgellau offers a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants, or discover the sandy beaches, castles, golf courses and railways of the region. A lovely location to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of Wales.

Accommodation

One twin bedroom. Bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen area, dining area and living area with impressive inglenook fireplace with woodburner.

Amenities

Heating from storage heater on the ground floor with additional heating from the wood-burning stove in the living area. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, colour TV/DVD combi with basic Sky (BBC channels only), radio etc. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Travel cot available on request. Off road parking for 2 cars. Garden with lawns, patio, furniture and BBQ. One well behaved dog welcome by arrangement. Shop 1 mile, restaurant 2 minutes, pub 3 minutes. Note: Babes in arms only please.

The woodburning stove was the winning factor in the cottage. Its warmth provided a cosy feeling at nights. The wealth of beams were characterful and it was enjoyable to have the feeling of staying somewhere very authentic and historic.

The cottage was charming and offered basic conditions(just what we expected)would go again! Enclosed garden - safe for dogs. Lots of good walks from front door.
