Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent and surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs, the village of Cromford lies just 1 mile from the vibrant spa town of Matlock Bath, 3 miles from Matlock. Famous for its connnections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade, and often referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution, today Cromford offers a selection of pubs and shops, as well as Arkwright's Cromford Mill, a world heritage site. The area boasts a plethora of attractions such as Gullivers Kingdom, the Peak District Mining Museum and splendid Chatsworth House. Visitors can take a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car and take in the views in style, whilst the more active are catered for with plentiful walking around the Derwent Valley and the White Peak, and with cycling opportunities at Carsington Water and the High Peak Cycle Trail.

The Old Hat Shop has been lovingly restored and retains much of its original charm, with stone floors and open fireplaces, whilst the mature garden makes an ideal setting to relax and recover after an active day. Situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park and just a short drive from Bakewell and the picturesque village of Ashover (Cardale of TV's Peak Practice'), the cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the region's attractions, including the majestic Chatsworth House and Carsington Reservoir & Sailing Centre. A great location for a relaxing break.

Over three floors. Three bedrooms: 1 x first floor king-size double, 1 x second floor double, 1 x second floor twin. First floor bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and WC. Small fitted kitchen. Utility room. Dining room with feature fireplace. Cosy sitting room with open fire.

Full gas central heating with additional heating from open fire in sitting room. Gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, colour TV, DVD, stereo/CD player/radio, library of books/games. Fuel, power and starter pack for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Cot and highchair available on request. Roadside parking. Lockable bike storage in shed. Small lawned garden with patio and garden chairs, small enclosed yard to rear. Sorry no smoking. One well behaved dog welcome. Shop and pub 1 min walk. Note: The property is situated on the B5036 - secondary glazing fitted to both front bedroom windows.

Cromford is a very good centre, particularly for children, with attractions in Matlock and Matlock Bath, Cromford itself and at Carsington Water, not to mention Chatsworth and Haddon not far away. The local shops are also very good.
