PORTESSIE

Buckie 1 mile; Cullen 5 miles; Elgin 18 miles.

Situated on the Moray Firth coast, Portessie is one of a number of old fishing villages that lie on a three-mile stretch of shoreline to the east of Buckie on Scotland's 'sunniest north east coast'. It's an unspoiled coastline, with dramatic cliff scenery, beautiful beaches and picturesque villages such as Gardenstown and Pennan. Families will love the extensive beach at Cullen and enjoy local opportunities to ride, golf and watch rare birdlife - the RSPB Reserve at Spey Bay is a must for keen birdwatchers. The Moray Firth has one of only two resident populations of Bottle-nosed dolphins in Britain and regular boat trips leave from Buckie and Macduff harbours on dolphin-watching expeditions. A wonderful base for a magical holiday experience.

The surrounding area is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise with truly superb beaches and a variety of outdoor pursuits on offer. There are five golf courses within 10 miles of the village and the RSPB Reserve at Spey Bay is a 'must' for birdwatchers with ospreys visiting each summer. Braehead Croft was without doubt the best holiday cottage we have stayed in for many years, we could not fault it in any way. We had a wonderful holiday and will certainly be going back to Portessie and Braehead Croft.

Braehead Croft was fabulous, a real credit to the owners. It has fabulous views across the bay (We spotted a group of seals with their young by the local golf course !) The house was very child & family friendly and extremely well kept. Portessie was well placed for touring around the beautiful local villages and towns. The Croft was delightful, a real home from home. Wished it belonged to us !!!! It was a sad day on Saturday when we had to leave.... Many thanks for a wonderful break. We hope to return sometime soon....

WONDERFUL, but we did a 200ml round trip to Chanonry Point to see the dolphins - not a glimpse of one. We got back and were having a cup of tea on the patio and low and behold, in the bay right in front of our eyes there were 4 of them. And the sunsets were things you only dream about. A wonderful wonderful holiday had by all, WELL DONE THANK YOU

The great welcome we got from the owners, especially as we turned up earlier than we should have! The cleanliness and spaciousness and warmth of the house and its beautiful views. The supplies that were available for our use.

This is our second visit to Braehaed Croft. The property is ideally situated for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The position overlooking the bay is fantastic. The cottage itself is perfect for two families and we will be back in the near future.

This property was extremely comfortable, a home from home. We could not fault it in any way. The owner met us on arrival and was most helpful. The views from the rear of the property were just stunning. A very relaxing holiday, we will be back next year!
