RYDE, ISLE OF WIGHT Ryde, fondly known as "The Gateway to the Island", is the largest town on the Isle of Wight and became popular as a holiday destination in the 1820s. Today, the regular ferry, catamaran and hovercraft services make this lovely family resort accessible for all. There's so much to see and do, catering for all ages and interests within the town and local area including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, whilst the 6 miles of super, gently sloping sandy beaches are ideal for bathing. Along the esplanade there are bowling greens, an ice rink, tenpin bowling, putting greens and children's rides as well as a boating lake and paddling pool. With many other attractions within easy reach, Ryde provides a superb base for touring this picturesque Island. The Property: Hydrangea Cottage A superb and clever conversion of what are thought to have been the stables of the adjoining gentleman's residence, situated in a quiet location, close to the centre of Ryde, on the Isle of Wight. Dating back over 100 years and unusually located 6 steps down from pavement level, Hydrangea Cottage has a light and airy feel, boasting contemporary furnishings, high ceilings, a mezzanine seating area, accessed by a spiral staircase and a lovely ensuite bedroom. The property makes a superb base from which to enjoy Ryde's large range of shops and restaurants or simply relax on the sandy beaches nearby. With numerous attractions in the area to suit all tastes, a week isn't nearly long enough!
