MANOD

Blaenau Ffestiniog 1.5 miles; Porthmadog 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 13 miles.

Manod is situated between the impressive Manod and Moelwyn mountains near the centre of Snowdonia National Park. Only 1.5 miles away is Blaenau Ffestiniog, once the capital of slate quarrying and in the 18th Century known as the "City of Slate". The town stands in an elevated, natural bowl amidst this mountainous region, has a good variety of shops and pubs, but is best known for its tourist attractions. One of the old quarries is now the renowned Llechwedd Slate Cavern, or there is the magnificent hydroelectric power station and famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway providing wonderful trips through spectacular countryside. Enjoy superb walks and bike trails, good climbing at the Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre, wonderful sandy beaches, great fishing or golf, or visit delightful Betws-y-Coed, the Italianate Village at Portmeirion or Bala, with its renowned white-water rafting opportunities.

The cottage was fairly small but very cosy & very homely and is situated in the middle of some stunning scenery. We both really enjoyed our stay & our dog loved the walks & beaches close by. We would definitely stay in the cottage again in the future. Many thanks to the owners for the Xmas decorations & Champagne, it was a lovely touch & very much appreciated. Overall we had a lovely Christmas & very much enjoyed our stay. Thanks, Dave, Tara & Holly Dog.

What a fantastic cottage and location. It was great to escape the city and experience the beauty of the Snowdonia National park. It was the most perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary as well as a birthday. Thank you.

Cottage was in a great location for touring the area around. The owners were very helpful, contacting us before the holiday, sending lots of very useful extra information about the area-places to eat, good beaches etc. We had a great time and we would use Sykes again without any hesitation - thank you.

We loved this cottage, from the first day we felt at home in it. The upper garden is wonderful with its beautiful views of the mountains. The owner and his wife are very nice people and they gave us the feeling that we were very welcome there. Thank you very much for everything!

It was in an excellent position for exploring Snowdonia. We enjoyed being able to light a fire as the weather was fairly chilly. We enjoyed the bird life in Wales.
