The ancient market town of Ulverston still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today it's well known as a festival town with events throughout the year. One of the town's great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre.
