ULVERSTON Lake Windermere 12 miles; Coniston Lake 12 miles. The ancient market town of Ulverston still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today it's well known as a festival town with events throughout the year. One of the town's great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. Whilst many Lakeland destinations have been developed beyond recognition, Ulverston still has an authentic feel and community spirit. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle. The Property: The Old Bake House A charming, detached cottage, situated on a quiet side street in the heart of the ancient market town of Ulverston. A former bake house, this lovely property has been thoughtfully converted to a high standard and provides guests with a cottage of much 'olde world' charm and character. It features a delightful sitting room with open fire, an additional lounge with dining area and three lovely bedrooms - wonderful holiday accommodation! The cottage affords quick and easy access to the many delights of Ulverston, with its old pubs (including the owner's pub), the start of the Cumbria Way, excellent restaurants and the twice weekly market, not to be missed! With the National Park, Eskdale Railway, the World of Beatrix Potter and the Furness Coast with its beautiful sandy beaches, all within easy reach, this is a wonderful holiday location for family and friends to get away from it all!
