The village of Spanish Point is situated on the west coast of County Clare in Ireland and takes its name from the Spanish who died there in 1588, when many ships of the Spanish Armada were wrecked during the stormy weather. Today the village consists of many holiday homes, several nice pubs offering live Irish music, a lovely beach, which is popular for swimmers and surfers alike, and a nine-hole golf course, which is one of the oldest courses in Ireland and offers wonderful views of the rugged coastline. The small town of Miltown Malbay is 3 miles away, offering a selection of shops and pubs, while the seaside town of Lahinch is also close by, offering great surfing opportunities. Visit the Cliffs of Moher, north of Lahinch, which offer superb views of the North Atlantic and the Aran Islands in clear weather, or travel further afield to Clare's County town of Ennis, which boasts unusual shops, bars, restaurants and a lively Irish music scene.
