Fordingbridge is a traditional Hampshire town on the banks of the River Avon, and offers a good mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, a small museum of local history and a display of original work by the artist Augustus John, who lived here for many years. The medieval Great Bridge, with seven graceful arches, is a major feature of the town. The immediate area is a wonderful place for visitors, with its beautiful scenery, nature havens, cycleways and welcoming people. Fordingbridge is conveniently situated for the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury to the north, and the super seaside resort of Bournemouth to the south. The stunning New Forest National Park is only 1.5 miles from the town, where you can explore thousands of acres of moor, heath and woodland frequented by wild ponies, and dotted with quaint villages and country pubs. Within a short drive is the magnificent Elizabethan manor house at Breamore, as well as the New Forest Water Park, and a trip to Beaulieu, home of the National Motor Museum is not to be missed. This is a great location for exploring this picturesque and interesting area. This well-equipped apartment has been refurbished to a high standard, and makes an ideal base for a couple to explore the area. There are a number of quaint shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance, or just 1.5 miles away lies the boundary of The New Forest National Park, with its swathes of purple heather and woodlands, home to deer, wild ponies and cattle. The cathedral city of Salisbury and the seaside resort of Bournemouth are both an easy drive away, while a visit to the nearby Elizabethan mansion at Breamore House is not to be missed, and the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu provides a great day out.
