  • "We couldn't fault the property."

Spacious, extremely well equipped, and in a very good location. It was absolutely ideal for our party of nine. The next time we have a large amount of people to accommodate for a holiday, we will be back.

  • "A fabulous property for large groups, with plenty of bathrooms, a large main room for gathering and games, and a small TV/quiet room for those who want a break from the group."

Very helpful owners nearby who are happy to drop off fresh eggs from their chickens. We found a nice, mostly off road, walk into Buxton and plenty of other amazing walks a short car drive away.

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. (Better than any we’ve stayed in before). Key collection and welcome was warm and straightforward. Quiet location and good allocation of space for parking

  • "A very spacious and well equipped property in a tranquil and picturesque location."

It was ideal for a large family holiday and was within easy reach by car to a number of attractions such a caves and facilities such as pubs, restaurants and supermarkets in Buxton. However, the farm did sell fresh eggs. As a minor point, a mirror over the sink instead of on the back wall of the ensuite of the bedroom we occupied would have been useful for wet shaving. A very enjoyable holiday.

A very comfortable stay. It was lovely to have a long table we could all sit at together and the view of the farm was idyllic. Fortunately the weather picked up so we walked across the fields to Buxton too!

It is spacious, modern, secure and spotlessly clean. Ample car parking space is available. Owner is very pleasant and on hand if a problem arose. In all, a lovely, relaxing place for a break.

However weather did not help as it rained. The cottage and its surrounding was lovely, spacious and clean. My only issue was not having a hair dryer as most cottages provide hair dryers as part of the stay. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.

  • "Only issues were: Water pressure not great in some showers and water in sinks upstairs was hit and miss (not a major issue so didn’t mention to owner) Electricity did cut out at one point but Andy was very responsive and came to fix it within 20 minutes."

  • "Everything was good, however, we had a huge problem with the huge sound problems between the upstairs communal spaces and the bedrooms below."

We had children and a baby in our group and it although we are a quiet group who were just walking normally around and playing board games, it was impossible to put the little ones to bed downstairs while people are still up as normal walking sounded like people crashing through the floor. As soon as the first person was up in the morning walking around upstairs everyone was awake because it is so insanely noisey. This really needs to be noted on the advert as is very difficult with children.

It took a while for the house to warm up, but then was cosy, and very festively dressed. Some of the carpet and soft furnishings were a little worn but all were clean, and the beds very comfortable. Plenty of hot water! We didn’t need to trouble our hosts, everything we needed was there. We would strongly consider another stay here as a large group, or in smaller groups in the other properties, thank you.

The owners were on hand for any of our needs; even checking in on us and offering assistance (via the plough!) when the snow came down heavy! The large open space allows a large family to interact well or break off into smaller groups if needed. It allowed excellent family time without anyone feeling on top of one another!! The sofas were amazing and added to the comfy vibe / chill we were looking for! Well equipped kitchen with plentiful dishes / cutlery etc. The two ovens and two fridges were a very much needed and appreciated. There was everything we could have needed (perhaps a couple of tea towels more would have helped but that is very much nit-picking!). Beds were super comfy with lovely quality bedding and the towels were nice and fluffy and soft. If you are wanting a large family get away - this is the place for you!

We loved the wide and open social space. The large couches were a real hit. It’s rare that a family of 10 can sprawl out in such comfort. The amount of bathrooms and en suite bathrooms was also well thought out. The cottage was well equipped and very well situated to explore the majority of the Peak District. About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
