It was lovely cottage, restful and well appointed, a welcome package, and everything we could need.

Very friendly owners who were extremely helpful. We appreciated the break.

Thornlea was an excellent location for exploring North Yorkshire.

Richmond has lots to offer and places such as Raby Castle and Locomotion are less than half an hour's drive away. Thornlea was comfortable, spacious and well appointed. I did find the bed was a little too firm but that's personal preference. The owners were friendly and helpful. We would return in the future.

Fourth visit to Thornlea and another perfect stay in comfortable accommodation.

Would highly recommend to anyone searching for a base to explore Nth Yorkshire.

We have now stayed here many times as part of catching up with family and friends on the Northeast and we will continue to do so.

The cottage is on a great place on the edge of Richmond It's quiet, has great views from the lounge, is a reasonable walk from the town market.place, has a cess to local walks and a short .drive from the motorway. Great place to stay

Sadly we had to leave after 2 days but this is one of the loveliest properties we have ever stayed in.

It’s so warm and comfortable and set in a beautiful location with wonderful views over the Dales and not far from Richmond shops. Pat and Ron are wonderful hosts and most welcoming, we plan to return again as soon as we are able.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday.

The accommodation was comfortable and the hosts fabulous. We walked everyday from the door along the river, along the Coast to Coast route and others. What we did do was always call in at Edwina’s Cakes for scrumptious treats to take back to the cottage.

We've lost count of the numbers of times we've stayed at Thornlea and we will be back again next year.

It's owned by a lovely couple who live on site. The cottage has some great views and is a nice walk into Richmond. There is a path alongside cottage which goes via Easy Abbey to the old railway station which now has three cinemas, a restaurant and shops.

Beds were comfortable as was the living area. Nice big dining table. Kitchen was slightly small but big enough for 2 people so no problem. Patio doors on to the garden from the living room was a bonus. A short (20 min) walk into town with plenty to do. The cottage is on the main road but we didn't have any issues with traffic noise overnight. The owners were friendly and left us a nice welcome pack of milk, coffee, tea and a bottle of wine. Would definitely stay here again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thornlea.

It proved to be one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in. The owners were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. They provided milk, lovely biscuits and a delicious bottle of wine for our arrival. The weather behaved itself impeccably too!

This a lovely small property on the outskirts of Richmond, but we walked into the town - well-lit - about a mile.

It has everything you need for a break, including a gorgeous garden. Very reasonably priced.

Owners friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Inside was comfy, warm, clean and well laid out. Kitchen was small but for 2 of us was ok. Parking outside and off road, wifi worked fine and phone signal worked. Overall, we decided that we would visit again next time we are in the area. Thanks to owners, Pat and Ron, for looking after us.

Cosy Bungalow friendly Owners

The bungalow was was ideal for what we wanted .

It was very clean and comfortable and the owners couldn’t have been more kind and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for anywhere better we will definatly be returning to Thornlea . Thank you Ron And Pat for a wonderful week and a great holiday .

Great little property in a brilliant location.

It's not the biggest place but there's more than ample space to have a great time. Lovely big dining room table. We had 2 young kids with us and they absolutely loved the garden space. There was also a little welcome goodies pack which was a nice surprise. There's lots of places near by to visit. We can highly recommend the Himalayan Gardens and Fountains Abbey. Thanks for a great stay.

We traveled down from Scotland looking forward to our break in at Thornlea it was pouring rain all the way and when we arrived and entered the cottage it was like an ice box no heating on when we turned up the thermostat nothing by luck I know a bit about boilers and was able to get the heating on it took quite a while to heat the cottage not a very good start thereafter all was good just needs one or two bits of touching up here and there.

We always look for clean and suitable accommodation for a stay.

We were not disappointed in any way, Thornlea was ideal, just what we wanted, comfortable, clean and warm, needed the last one as the weather turned. Had a great break, recharged the batteries and ready for routine once more.

Second time we've stayed at Thornlea cottage and we'll be going back again next year.

Think that says it all.

Thornley is perfect for visiting the delights that Richmond has to offer.

The cottage is very comfortable and fully equipped with all the appliances you would expect. It is situated a short walk from a bus stop if you don't want to walk to the centre of town or take your car. The bus ride takes only 5 min. Ron and Pat, the owners, live next door and supplied lots of information about Richmond for us to enjoy, and there are games to play for those rainy days. All in all we had a lovely break and can definitely recommend.

Comfortable cottage, the owners are helpful and friendly.

The kitchen has limited worktop area as others have stated and the teapot, which has a lid that doesn't close fully, is barely adequate for two of the supplied mugs, if there are more than two of you, take your own teapot! The wifi is just about enough to watch streaming content but buffers now and again,as the owner agrees this is due to the location more than anything else.

The friendly, helpful owners in the main house next door left a lovely welcome tray for us. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nice property with walks from the front door and into Richmond where there is a wide rage of facilities.

There's plenty of places to visit within easy reach. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly book again.

Overall the accommodation was very good; however, the kitchen is very small with very limited worktop space.

We like to prepare and cook our own meals and it was a challenge using the small amount of available space. In order to maximise what little there was we moved the large coffee machine into the dining area for the duration - this helped, but only slightly. The power-shower was a virtual Niagara Falls. What a pressure. Wow! I would suggest that net curtains be fitted to the bedroom windows to provide some privacy. Most days the curtains remained shut which made the bedrooms dark. As much as we enjoyed staying at Thornlea Cottage we won't be returning for one reason (one that cannot be remedied) - it's too close the the main road. Traffic noise throughout the night made sleeping difficult; for this reason we kept the bedroom windows closed (it muted the noise but it was still a nuisance) - which made the bedrooms hot and stuffy.

Property is clean & well maintained just outside of Richmond - a pleasant stay with comfortable settees & beds with easy parking onsite & lovely garden outlook!

A small kitchen but has all necessary items & bonus of an empty store cupboard! We enjoyed our hospitality tray on arrival! Only drawback is electric fire had been deliberately disconnected (despite being shown on website!) & no safety mat in shower (disabled person would have appreciated).

Enjoyed a fortnight's stay at the property which is homely, comfortable and clean sited at the edge of Richmond.

Well placed for touring the Swaledale district within 20 mins walk of Richmond town centre close to bus stops for regular Arriva Service x26 x27. This takes you to Richmond and Tesco store or Darlington via. the railway station in the opposite direction. Found the Town Hall Pub and Dining in Richmond Market Place ideal for food and Sunday roast. The 149 Fish shop in Barnard Castle good for a meal sited near the Post Office open all week. Ron & Pam nice friendly hosts and hopefully be using property in future.

Thornlea was a very comfortable and ideally located base to explore the area.

An excellent holiday cottage ideally located to visit the surrounding areas.

It was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. To the rear of the property was a lawned area with seating and a table, it was shared with the owners but they didn’t intrude on your privacy. Welcome gifts of a bottle of wine, milk and biscuits were very much appreciated. The owners, Pat and Ron, were very friendly and came round to make sure everything was satisfactory.

Every thing nice and clean. Kitchen although small had everything in it we required. Pat and Ron very considerate of our comfort in the hot weather by supplying a floor standing fan. Great garden to sit out in. No complaints at all. Would recommend Thornlea and would be happy to return.

The bungalow was so comfortable and clean. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed. There was even empty space in a cupboard to put our food etc which isn’t always the case in other bigger kitchens. Handy to have the bus stop just along the road. We enjoyed watching the birds in the garden. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Perfect peaceful location. On the outskirts of Richmond Town, although within walking distance of Town centre. Nothing was too much trouble for our friendly hosts Ron and Pat who made us feel extremely welcome. Would highly recommend and would stay there in the future.

This was our 3rd stay in this bungalow and we have enjoyed a most comfortable and relaxing holiday on each occasion.

Although on a main road, the bungalow is quiet and peaceful, being set back with it's own patio and garden area. The bungalow has a spacious lounge and is very comfortable to enjoy a quiet evening in if the weather is inclement. We will be staying again!

A really lovely bungalow in the perfect setting.

Beautiful views from garden, lovely to watch the visiting wildlife. Easy to find,, easy reach of lots of lovely places to visit. If really had to find a negative the step at front door and patio door were steep, but this was only an issue down to the mobility issues of one our party, and the bungalow does not claim to be step free. This in no way spoilt our stay and wouldn't stop us returning.

Thornlea is a great cottage very well situated just outside Richmond giving easy access to the whole area.

You have great views as you sit in the garden having your morning cup of tea.

Everything was perfect.

Hosts really good and lovely welcome tray with tea, coffee, delicious biscuits and wine on arrival. Bungalow very comfortable and watching the wild life from the patio doors was wonderful. Superb location to walk or go by car into Richmond. Beautiful walks from the bungalow. A really lovely stay. Pat and Ron were there if you needed anything, but we didn't. Great, we will be back when all Covid restrictions are lifted as there was so much to do in the area which we couldn't do due to current restrictions.

Great property, well looked after in excellent location to Richmond.

Beautiful garden at rear. Fortunately we had a lovely week of weather, however in bad weather there is nowhere to put wet coats or shoes as entrance is directly into carpeted lounge area, this was not an issue for us but could be to others. Also the pillows were rather worn and need replacing. On the whole good value for money in a great area.

We have found the cottage is very comfortable clean and welcoming.

It is very close to Richmond and close to the motorway for visiting other areas. The owners are very helpful and are happy to give information for the local area .

Bungalow was relaxing and just right for a week of walking in the Dales, close to Richmond and walks straight from the door.

We had a wonderful time at the cottage the garden was wonderful to sit in at daytime and evening.

The cottage gave a home from home feel . The directions from Ron & Pat the owners were very easy to follow. If like my husband Iain and I and like flyfishing it is perfect as there are plenty of place’s nearby. We will be going back.

Made to feel welcome. Ideal base for touring the Dales. Particularly enjoyed our visit to Eden Camp. Plenty places to eat locally for gluten intolerance.

This property is in a great location.

Near enough to all that Richmond has to offer but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Lovely secluded garden, a real suntrap. Very friendly owners, leaving a tray of tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits as well as a bottle of wine and bottle of fresh milk in the fridge, they even popped in on our last day to wish us a safe journey home. Hopefully we will be back for our 4th visit very soon.

Good priced cottage with a good location 3rd time at cottage

Lovely little cottage and the owners have thought of just about everything, including a welcome pack consisting of wine, biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

My only recommendation would be for the addition of black out curtains/blinds at the bedroom windows as there is a streetlight opposite which can make the room a little light but that is only my personal opinion and apart from that it was perfect and we can't wait to go back again and again.

When we arrived here was a welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits and a pint of fresh milk in the fridge. What a lovely touch. The cottage was perfect for us and very homely. Lovely and warm and had everything we needed. THere was also DVDs to watch and a games cupboard. Fantastic views from the back garden and fields across the road as located right on the edge of the town. Perfect base for visiting Richmond and surrounding area. There is a little public pathway that goes right down the side of the bungalow which takes you on a picturesque walk to Easby Abbey. Well worthy a visit.

Windows need cleaning patio doors filthy spoiled the bird watching

This is the 5th time that we have stayed in this cottage, and we have enjoyed our stay each time, We would happily recommend staying there.

The location suited us as it was close to Richmond but away from the built up area.

Views from Thornlea were of countryside and rabbits played in the back garden .Access to the Dales was easy so we made full use of the opportunity to enjoy visiting several.

Very warm welcome - very comfortable - very spacious for 2 people - location was ideal for us.

Very minor problem was wifi only available <20% of the time - if you are a news junkie like us, it's a problem. But VERY minor in the overall scheme of things.

This bungalow is situated just as you enter Richmond from Scotch Corner at the end of a row of semi-detached houses.

Ideally situated as you can walk into town or get a local bus which stops nearby. Also well situated for lovely trips to lots of different areas. Parking is easy and on the premises. As it is on the main road you can hear traffic but, with the windows closed and with the excellent double glazing it wasn't a problem. The views from the garden at the back are lovely and it was nice to watch the birds and squirrels from the patio doors. It would be pleasant sitting out there during the better weather. We were very warm and comfortable and the bungalow is well equipped including a hairdryer and lots of storage. The kitchen is small and I wouldn't care to make a meal for four people in it but Richmond and the Dales have such nice eating places cooking wasn't on the agenda! The owners are friendly and helpful if you need them. Wi-Fi is unreliable as the owners told us. The only safe way to get into and out of the bath for older people is to hang onto the shower fitting. I would like to see a non-slip mat in the bath and a grab rail. We would be happy to go back to Thornlea.

Fantastic location within walking distance of the historic centre of Richmond.

Very good access to the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. Made an excellent base for our family holiday.
